Oh... those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end...
Still feeling nostalgic about those days.

Cool! I started earlier than that. Won Logic Platinum in 1999 due to selling the most Emagic products, when I used to be instore keys demo'er.
And I still have 'the' crack of Logic 4.6? on my first stage laptop from 20 years ago! In the cupboard!
    Solid.

My favorite DAW to sequence stuff is Renoise (it's more of a tracker with DAW features). I also use Reaper but I think Ableton Live do have a simpler workflow for this type of stuff, although I'm not a proper Ableton Live user.

I like Logic. the latency compensation for external hardware works, and it's where I'd put the audio later anyway.

I use a conjunction of FL Studio for its fantastic Piano Roll and the king of all DAWs Reaper.

Oh maaaan! I'm a pure tracker fantast, haven't used any horisontal "DAW" since the early90s (I did use Cubase on Atari/ST (twice) )
I have from around 93-94 used (and to-date) these fantastic programs || PROTracker(AMIGA/Windows), Musicline Editor(AMIGA), ACE(ATARI), FT2(DOS/Windows), Deflemask(Windows), YM2149(Windows), SID-Wizard(C64), RAD & AD2T(Reality ADlib Tracker - Windows) -AND- RENOISE which is my main go-to DAW (Windows, just because VST/i support).

LOL 3 years later.. Back to Cubase since Cubase Pro 11.. Akai has driven the MPC into the dirt, and now its just a half ass DAW in a box selling plugins every month now.. Haven't turned that thing on since the beginning of the year when I dumped all my projects into Cubase..

Ableton. I've used it for way too long and it's embedded itself into my spine. Muscle memory and all that.

That said, I've been keen trying to construct tunes in a different manner, mainly writing songs on the guitar, writing chords and structures with pen an paper.

But for electronic stuff in parallel writing tunes with OpenMPT, back to my roots I guess. I'm guessing the change of perspective how sounds are organized makes for different results. It's all good though.

It's DAW. Also I use multiple, mainly Presonus Studio One (it's not "Studio"), Image-Line FL Studio and as of recently Bitwig.

Seqund as an MFX plugin inside Logic on individual tracks. I still do all " regular midi sequencing" as I always have, right on the DAW tracks. It's a visual go-between your standard midi tracks and the instrument plugin or hardware. It has lots of things you would normally do in CC lanes right on the main gui.
