    thanks, did you install it?
I didn't install it yet, because I read some negative comments about the crack, and version 15 is working fine...

actually I didn't as the patcher is detected as a trojan by a-squared (though most AV (75%) don't see anything)...which means it's very likely it IS one ...it usually doesn't get it wrong and otherwise it just displays risk-ware...so I guess I'll stick to your version..I couldn't find a clean v16.

v15 patcher is recognized as a hack-tool...which is what it is ^^

anyway thanks again for reviving that old flame in me

You should take a look at these 2 free players:

    http://aimp.ru/

    and

    http://www.foobar2000.org/

Both are freeware and can get installed as portable. Especially foobar has a good name amongst audiophiles. I have installed foobar on my usb-stick so I always have a player with me.

You're welcome. Are there things you miss in foobar? Maybe I can help with finding the right player.

Here's another free one, worth looking at:

Ah, ok, know the feeling. :)

I use Aimp the most because it has a nice little player that will stay on top of the screen while surfing. I miss that with foobar.

I took a while before aimp was gapless but now it is; listening to the live cd from the prodigy and I can't hear glitches when going to the next song. Remember that mp3's never are gapless. They always lose a bit of info while cutting. Only lossless is gapless. :)

You're welcome, hope it works out well for you *yes*

That used to be the case in the past, but is not true anymore.
I read about it, but forgot under which conditions mp3 are gapless as well... I think it is related to the bitrate, or the used codec for the conversion, or something like that...

That's new to me. Have to google for it.

I found this. In the bottom, they say winamp is gapless for mp3.

    It says:

"LAME-encoded MP3 can be gapless with players that support the LAME Mp3 info tag."

My player (Media Center 15) supports it.
Fortunately, 'cause I have a lot of albums with songs tied together (Pink Floyd, for example *yes* )

    Foobar for audio
VLC or Media Player Classic HC for video

For codec packs either use CCCP or Klite

I use MediaPlayerClassic HC (or not) with Satsuki Decoder Pack for video (films), reading about everything i've tested.

Based on ffdshow witch is librairies for décoding, not codec. So you can't encode file but can decode everything & it's far less CPU usage. There isn't compatibility problem like with codecs, mainly if you use many of them.

If you need to encode files by yourself, you can use the codec you need only, separatly.

Tested a lot of MKV files with x264/h264 video channel & a lot of possibility with this codec, even the more "exotic" features (of course with HD) plus some weird video with weird codec like WMV / Real / DVD files (VOB) / FLV / MPEG & a lot of possible variation (M2V / TS mainly) / M4V / OGM / MOV and more...

Of course, AVI with divx encoding works great (XViD, DiVX & even AVI with x264 video).

The subtitles (tested SRT, ASS, VOB, & SUB) are of course supported with a lot of possibles configurations.

Support for audio are more than correct too, tested AAC (or M4A), AC3, MP3, OGG, WMA (some problems with some of them but that's a crap format no ?), WAV, FLAC, mono, stereo or 5.1.

For music only, i use WinAMP but that's mainly for WAV/MP3.

Hope some of you can undestand my pathetic english ^^
