That's actually accurate, I got 2. One I that that I almost exclusively use for these annoying mandatory 2-step verifications that I leave at home and another one I use as an actual phone. Both with separate VPNs so Google, Facebook etc doesn't think I'm the same person.

Hopefully I can move to Linux soon. I am really getting tired of all the BS with windows.
I remember a different thread where a user calmed windows was the most secure OS he knows of.
I replied People here don't use windows for security. Lack of knowledge is really scary for the world.

    I
I'm still considering buying an Atari Mega 4 for running Cubase, only for MIDI. It's MIDI timing is impeccable, however, my whole audio/studio system is complicated enough even without it, and I like to focus on music, not tech or Crom forbid troubleshooting while making music.

So my main computer runs both nicely optimised and lite Windows 7, and Debian Linux for both music and daily work. Other 2, of which one is a laptop [and it also has Debian Linux generally for tech work], run lite Windows 7 and they're all connected through ReaMote, so they can work as one with a bit of added latency. There's also a NAS computer, but it runs OMV NAS software and serves just as a storage for all kind of things. Mostly samples, though. My wife has a 2013 Macbook Pro with High Sierra, but I don't use it, just service it when needed.

I said years ago that W10 will not touch my computers, but in the mean time I found an interesting Ghostmod version of LTSC version... so if it comes to staying with Windows, I'll use that, but as I'm also using Linux and see the growing support for it, who knows what will my system look like in 5 years from now. Personally, I'd like to see only Linux on all of them.

I used to like MacOS, and I still assemble Hackintosh PCs, but Apple is going nowhere with its OS IMHO regarding content creators, same as Windows 10. These proprietary OSes are becoming terminals for corporations to play with, mostly in the name of security, but generally to make your butthole bigger.

I'd love to see more Android apps for making music, but Android sucks for music making. iOS is much better. These touchscreen computers are really cool, but they will never replace a well assembled workstation computer. Well, at least not in the next decade or so. There will be some big changes in computing during this decade. I still wonder how will that impact corporate OSes people so like.

    Cheers!

Pete Cannon who makes amazing D&B tracks still uses an Atari and an Amiga to do some tracks along Akai samplers from back in the day and other hardware.

I 100 % agree with you but the person did not say that nor do I think he knows that.
They are using it on as if it was the only known best OS with security that will blow your mind away.
To us that know better, the security holes will blow your mind away.

When it comes to music, I've found Linux to be surprisingly versatile. I use Ubuntu for recording and editing because of its stable performance with audio software like Ardour and Audacity. It's been reliable for my home studio setup.

I've heard good things about other OS options on Operating Systems too, especially for music production. It's great to see how different systems cater to various needs.

What about you all? What OS do you prefer for your music setup?

I've been using Windows 7 for music production for 10 years, but for 4 years I have testing Linux, just in case, when everything collapse, I will be prepared :bleh:

@tzzsmk It depends on what you like, among commercial DAWs, my favorite is Reaper or Bitwig, and any interface, although my RME HDSP 9632 will work too.
