A thesaurus and a rhyming dictionary can help if you're blocked.

Read a short story on a related topic to get some pictures into your head.

ChatGPT is awesome. Just ask it to create you a song, you can ask it to rhyme if that’s what youre after, give it a narrative and it will produce the text formatted as a song, verse, bridge, chorus etc.

but as good as it is, it is also cheating. Nothing better than coming up with your own lyrics.

I also use a thesaurus and various rhyming dictionaries. I would say another useful move is to outline vocal parts without words, then add words later. This way I don't bother with writing specific lyrics until I know it's going to be a good song. Conversely I also keep a text file of lyrics, a lot times I can grab something from that and the words will fit pretty well right away.

You need an "almost rhyming" dictionary. Your favourite song lyrics almost certainly have not-quite-rhyming stuff in them. Perfect rhymes are often cheesy and predictable.

    ---

    Do you have the time,
    To listen to me whine,

    ---

There's a naked man standing laughing in your dreams,
You know who it it is but you don't like what it means,

Being a math brain I need formulae to do anything and repeat it. I have found one for writing lyrics in the book:

Ed Bell “How to Write a Song (Even If You've Never Written One Before and You Think You Suck)”

    https://amzn.eu/d/gGQSYwr

    This book opened my mind!!!

I sometimes use ChatGPT for improving my lyrics and it gives often interesting results. You can also give exact instructions to it for creating the new lyrics from scratch. It is interesting. Especially when you don’t write in your first language.

    The "virtual pen" website.

You type in some words, and it makes it look like you were scribbling some lyrics on the back of an envelope.

i disagree, the online tools, can be used as an inspiration, ofc not as a source of blind copying.

I realize I'm old but in my time education was strongly impressed on us, and we all would strive to be the top students and excel in all our classes and courses. Unlike today with so many kids unable to read, write, spell or even speak properly and intelligently, then dropping out of school.
