While both are wavetable synths, they do things differently so they complement each other.

Also you can't compare something that just came out to something thats been around for awhile. That's like comparing an aged wine to wine that is just bottled. All great empires fall at some point.

I think it depends more on which synth you're more comfortable with.

The empirical approach would be to create the same patch with both and then compare the sound, checking for aliasing, distortion, etc.

Image-Line once made a lot of investments in Synths, but after a while, they changed this trend and focused on FLS itself.

If they revive the previous trend, I'm sure they can design the best synths on the market.

If we do not consider price, I will pick free (Limited) version of Vital over Serum. Serum tutorials and wavetables work with Vital too and Vital have a few more useful features. I did comparison between both and Vital can sound like Serum. GUI of Serum is better and uses less CPU than Vital but after closing the plugin window, Vital uses less cpu than serum. I vote for Vital.

    Dafuck this thread lol.
I have made almost ALL my serum presets in vital and they sound exactly the same. It sounds like you guys don't know what you're doing or something. Vital has already 99% everything that serum has, except for some misc filters and the latest things duda added like modulation points in lfo or the exporting feature.

Price doesn't have anything to do here

Nice analogy, considering that wine "experts" can't even tell the difference between white and red wines, never mind other qualities.

It seems to me that because these are very similar kinds of virtual synthesizers, they ought to be able to produce the same sounds, except by the limitations of each. So, it seem it's almost like a feature comparison as opposed to the actual quality of sound.

Now, if we are talking about the quality of the sound, that is about aliasing and bitrates and all that tech stuff, right?
If they both have the same specs, neither should sound "better", right?
So, can we be clear what we are talking about?
