hi, I am currently building my new studio and have taken various measurements with REW today.
the two in the picture were the best positions .
Which one would you prefer ?
The dips in the higher frequency ranges in the red measurement are probably caused by my table with the big screen which was still standing in the middle of the room during the measurement.

Acoustic absorbers are of course planned, bass traps 62cm in every corner, ceiling and so on

Red line, if you can get rid of those dips you mentioned. HOWEVER, were the measurements taken with the speakers in the same position? because it it might be that the red position is in an awkward place related to the speakers and that's causing weird interferences.

at first sight the red line looks flatter

but then i realized it is also way more volatile.
i'd say green line because of that:dunno:

or maybe re-measure it without the table

just curious, which one sounds better to you?

Those dips in the red line look like comb filtering which would indicate a reflection from the room is out of phase with the direct sound from the monitors at that listening spot. If you can remove that reflection, it should be fine.

Agree with the rest: the red line, if you can get rid of those dips.

    here is the Room :
    427866594_1314665992539632_7547129421663501402_n (1).jpg
I tried again today and measured with rew .
These two positions were the best :
    Position 1:

    wand vorne waterfall.jpg
    wand vorne specto.jpg

    Position 2:
    fenster waterfall.jpg
    fenster specto.jpg
Of course room treatment is planned, but I would like to position myself in the best possible place in the room right from the start.

i think position 2 is a little bit better to start or ?

Why haven't you considered one of the (edit) long length wall? It would in my estimation work better from what I have read as well as how that I positioned my own desk because of that.

i would do position #1 of those two. but probably closer to the longer wall than your drawing. if you have the room empty when you start setting up, I would listen to something playing off a phone or tablet on the monitors. Before you move a whole bunch of stuff and make the desk super heavy. Mine is setup the way @Lois Lane suggested, facing away from the shortest wall towards the longest. i've had the desk in all 4 available positions and the shortest wall is the best of them, for me. But my electrical outlets are all along the shortest wall too, making it even easier to decide.

    Position 1:
peak 106 SPL at 140hz (and this other peak 101 SPL at 220hz )
trough 75 SPL at 90 hz

    Position 2:
peak 102 SPL at 130Hz (with no other peaks over the 100 SPL line)
    trough 80 SPL at 60hz
and a flatter looking overall line

which means more even equilibrium between the frequencies in position 2
position 2 is looking better to me

but i must say i'm no specialist, so don't take my word for it
just a guy with an opinion

I have tried the long wall, once with the speakers directly on the wall and once with 30cm distance to the wall.
Both measurements were worse than the other two

    Near long Wall:

So I can't get any closer to one of the two short walls, then I won't be able to open the doors.
and as far as I know, moving asymmetrically to one long side is not good, is it ?
Shouldn't you always be on the center line of the room?

Sometimes, but in rooms that are not 100% regular and have different materials on each walls (a.k.a. every home studio ever), it's not always the case.

I still think option 2 is the best, it's more practical to treat important spots that way, and since (according to the drawing) there's enough space for the door to open, you might even be able to put some kind of removable panel on the window if needed. I'd test for rattling and noise from outside, but if it's all good then that's the spot imo.

This one's not too shabby either, but you might need to put some of those absorbers on the doors, and use free standing panels.
