As the title said, I am curious about which one is the most stable. Cubase is the most buggy/laggy DAW I have used so far.

 

I used to use Cubase 5. Almost didn't have any problems with it, but then I moved to 6.5 for the 64bit plugins and then I met many bugs that didn't existed in 5. I haven't tested any other version tho.
That's why I am looking for a DAW that has all the features Cubase 6 has, seems that Studio One is the most similar, but I am not sure if it has the same tools for MIDI edition and Mixing

 

Best version of cubase is 5 but so far the 9.5 is really stable. I have cubase pro 10 and is hard to work on cubase 10 a lot of bugs and pops. Sometimes i ise other daws like ableton. Cubase some times is hard yo have some creative. The updates of cubase are spensive and they are always beta.

 

9.5's pretty solid here, I'm working full time every day with it. 10 has yet to get there, but I'm sure it will eventually, it brought some very cool features, and I'm using it as well.

 

10 is pretty stable for me...having some graphics errors but that with 9.5 as well.
Lots of complaints about 10 but it works fine for me

 

9.5 here... upgrading to 10 shortly... 9.5 is pretty stable... it only crashes once per day...

 

Anyone still use Cubase 5 ? Playing with the thought of setting up an Windows 7 system with al kind of stuff just to play around

I use the last version of Cubase 5 sometimes. Have clients with 5, 7, and 8/8.5/9/9.5. Those with 5 have the least problems as far as I can tell, but 7 gets a pass, too. 9.5 is definitely better than 9 and 8. I'd say that .5 versions are better than .0. I've heard some bad stuff about 10's bugs... but as always Steiny will surely work it out in a couple of updates.

If I could choose, I would probably use last version of 7.5. I don't like the direction they went with 8.

 

I have updated to cubase pro 10 and switched back to 9.5 immediately. A lot of display problems. Too many to list. Plugins cannot be used anymore as they do not display properly. Some need to be loaded, then unloaded then loaded again as a workaround. I've been told it has to do with new HDPI implementation. Honestly, i don't give a shit. If it cannot work in a stable environment, then i trash it and wait for an update.

 

Surprised to see people talk about versions of Cubase being more stable than others. I always had the impression that Cubase is "the" stable workhorse, and that its stability even with an unholy amount of plugins and instruments is its main selling point, so it's weird to hear that certain versions are more stable than others. How would you ever notice that if you wouldn't experience instability, which it supposedly doesn't have?

 

I tried 10 as a demo and reverted to 9.5 the same day.

Never had an issue with 9.5

 

Well I am still using 6. I bought that and never bothered to upgrade, not really worth it to me. No significant new features.

I don't like the direction it went after SX.

 

All versions since SX3 have been stable for me. Even my Atari was once I went legit. I think I never used V4. Might be dependent on computer sound card drivers (RME here) and plugins. No difference between.0 and .5 versions. Even 10.0 is running great.

 

Just for fun I checked to see if the last version I ever used before Reaper still works on a 64 bit system... Holy crap it loaded!

 

9.5 is the best in content pdc and stability, but i know people that become very frustrated for v10 that forced them to change the daw instead of returning back to 9.5

 

Here Windows 7. No problems with Cubase 9, 9.5 and 10.
Am I the only one that works well? I'm super happy. for me it works much better and faster than 9.5. at the moment I have not had any problem. (crossed fingers)
