My laptop is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz

i run windows 11

but now that its closing in to summer, even when having some programs running and chrome especially now on summer sometimes its slow due to heat...

i even have something below the laptop to lift it a bit up so that it does not heat much as it slows down......it started annoying me and its not even summer yet. BTW will all kind of laptops cause me this issue in the summer?.....its hot where i am like 40 Celsius in the summer / 104 farenheit

anyway i was wondering which are the rivals right now for best music production.....i guess macbook would be the top and most bank breaking purchase....which is the rival? anything particular?



also......i think i have SSD on this laptop but i don't know if windows 11 runs on it or not....because i formatted my laptop and i don't know if i reinstalled everything correctly....would this make a difference to speed, if so i would take a look at it


EDIT: 17 inch laptop would be the best option right? for music production

Do not you want to buy a used normal PC on ebay ? Your notebook is too old and too slow.
The discontinued models of the old AMD / Intel are very cheap. All the world want faster PC's with DDR4.

honestly this guy gets it, i started with hdx and 2x octo now im down with optimizing my processors to a standard master chain and a feeew processors here and there on individual tracks on a budget laptop i bought used. its not due to budget but due to optimization. lenovo ideapad s340.

 

How much money can you spend ? Do you want to stay with Mac Notebook.

I try to only use the Macbook Pro during the winters here. That is when it gets coldest and the computer runs it's best.
The only problem is the chassis is metal and it freezes to your hands when it is running really well.
Try typing with frostbite. It's when you get the most inspired.

If you're a notebook guy, stick with it for the workflow. I don't like Macs and I don't like Intel.
They were always so expensive too. I just upgrade, new motherboard, new CPU and new RAM.... that's it.

i think maybe windows 11 making my laptop slower

i see some $5000 laptops still advertised with windows 10...which makes me wonder if windows 11 is causing slowing down my laptop

 

I'll stick with Windows 10 for now - it runs stable. The bigger a system gets, the more resources it consumes.
You also have to clean up and defragment your computer. Times under "Run" the term "Disk Cleanup" enter and run.

There are all the Windows updates, which can amount to several GB.
Windows is a notorious data collector and some people reinstall their PC every year at Christmas, so that it runs faster again.

 

i think i'll try reinstall with windows 10 tonight before continuing to look into new laptops.......thanks!

 

i just put random things below my laptop to lift it a bit up :P also it costs a lot to ship it to my country for some reason...thats only 12 euros and charges me 80 to ship it...weird

am sure there's similar things where i am....but i will consider all this thanks!...now reinstalling windows 10

... and yes I well aware the 980 Samsung can only run half speed but at the time of building the 980 there wasn't much in my price range hopefully once the 12th 12900k drops to around 500 i will change mother board to support the new cpu for the lga1700 socket and get one that supports Samsung 980 pro hd gen 4 to its full potential right now my motherboard also has thunderbolt so my apollo was plug and play pretty much.My Temps on desktop run 31 c to 33 34c I havnt overclocked the system havnt seen a need to.Everything came from newegg.
