    Hi,

I watched Coda yesterday, and I was always wondering which daw he used throughout the movie... I made a few screenshots, but sadly I only watched the DVD version, so rather bad quality, sorry.

I really like his music, but I don't want to copy him and use the same daw.... I'm just really curious xD

Every time I see something about Pro Tools, I think about this (Randy on the Toilet making
    "lorde's" music :winker:):

But they actually make it really good .

Oh yeah... Now I see Pro Tools, too  Thank you @alwin1 (Majoras Mask is one of my fav games btw).

I completely forgot how it looks, because I never really worked with it (and I don't want to), and only saw this program on some tutorials a few years ago.

It doesn't look really nice on the screenshots, does it still look so old and ugly?

And if you like Sakamoto's music you really should watch the movie, too.

    Which movie?
I like Sakamoto, specially what he did with David Silvian.

Coda, it's a potrait of him. He explains a little about his composing process, but I think the movie is mostly about him as a person.

Oh I don't really know much about his works with David Silvian yet... must check this out... Thanks!

Sorry, I misspelled the name it's David Sylvian.
Ryuichi Sakamoto and him worked together in the 80's /90's and their work is heavily influenced by the incoming technology of these decades.
    As an example:

    Or

Last but most known is Forbidden Colors, that was used in"Merry Christmas Mister Lawrence" movie.

They have done much more than that and explored different universes so its worth to investigate.

I remember, but I just saw him in clip right now.
He resembles in part David Bowie, in part Gary Numan, both from which I suspect he took inspiration.

I saw a live concert of Sakamoto for the Beauty tour 1990, it was awesome.
And I got the original For Infinite Mutiplies album (YMO), when I didn't know it was Sakamoto.
My Space Invaders picture disc was lost (stolen:facepalm:).

That's right. But he really have his own voice. Very melancholic / poetic kind of voice.

I guess you were joking, but thinking about it - it could be, since the Pro Tools skin [paid] for Reaper looks incredibly authentic.

Sakamoto is a composing genius. One of my favourite instrumental composers aside from Jean Michel Jarre and Mike Oldfield. Him and David Sylvian made a really great duo, with Sylvian having such a special voice.

Pro Tools, typically people don't mess with skins in Reaper unless they're a power user, I could be wrong tho....

The first thing I changed after installing Reaper was it's theme. But after a few years, I find myself preferring the default theme over any other theme.
Worst themes I came across are the copies of other DAWs.

I still love listening to his albums from time to time. There's something magical about his compositions.
Did a q&d remake of Red Guitar in KORG Gadget a while ago, just for fun because I loved the piano chords

Shhhh.. If you mention Pro Tools too loudly, that one weird guy will come back and argue about how "ProTools is the number one DAW chosen by professional musicians for a reason.. It sounds better!"

    Even tough I really like Sakamoto I never really bothered with YMO... Must be a huge gap in my education ;_;

What's the most essential YMO album you should listen to as a newbie?
