Hi, I have DSP based system, but as I said, I encountered clicks problem with my XITE-1 sound card until disabling virtualization and SMT/Hyperthreading from the BIOS and in that case clicks and dropouts were not because of high CPU load, but because of the driver not working properly and this is a test you could try. I've read in one of your replies that you are using a modern computer and CPU is not maxed out when you encounter the clicks/dropouts, so this is my suggestion to try, but if your problem is due to the CPU maxed out, then increasing the buffer could improve the situation, but as other said 4096 can cause other kinds of problems.

 

Hello again , no i havent bought yet the new system , i was explaining to another guy about intel speedtest , how to disable it . Im in the process of searching the right components of the new PC . 13900KF for intel based or AMD based still looking because i have zero experience with AMDs . Need some time to check it before i decide which way to go . Thats why im asking info about the buffer sizes to have an idea for the next steps . Thank you for your answer .

 

My answer still applies. Higher buffer settings will not allow for better performance or more plugins beyond a certain point.

Motherboard, CPU, memory, storage, power efficiency, BIOS setup, OS setup, DAW setup & OS background tasks all have an effect on DAW & plugin performance.

A system based on a workstation motherboard with at least quad channel memory (64GB or more) is the target for most serious composers using a Windows based PC. External DSP processing also allows for more plugins to be used in a session (UAD/Avid).
