    3.08 octaves (37 semis). Apparently identical range as Dave Gahan (unrelated).

    This is true, just straight "singing" doesn't encompass the entire human vocal range, there's these talky "sotto voce" (I think that's correct) bits and then there's these high screams and everything in between. I've done thrash metal scream-growls and attempted death metal gutturals, but it's all good fun. I respect people who can utilise the voice to it's full extent, it doesn't come naturally always.
