I'm in agreement with you, @The Pirate. I usually place Melodyne prior to any soundshaping.

 

High pass>FabFilter MB (as a de-esser)>CLA 76>EQ (usually scheps73 or an SSL)>TDR Nova (to control problematic frequencies)>CLA 2A

Sometimes i send to Waves aphex exciter to add some extra brightness, reverb is usually Waves manny reverb

That is a whooping $22,800.00 US and the pants are not even included. Reason why I don't buy new hardware. I found the Comp in a bank auction. Ended up paying $1,700.00 and only because another bidder kept on raising its price. There are not that many used DM units for sale at any given moment. Manley is different. You get them used for less than half of what they cost new.

It's based on Reacomp, ReaEQ, Reagate, Reaverb (not necessarily in that order). p. basic, stock, works.

Is that so? I don't know much about Dangerous or Manley, but I was under the impression that Manley was very coveted.

I worked on a track recently with a friend who uses a Manley Reference. Really nice mic for rap vocals. Gets a little harsh every now and then, but not as much as you might expect for such a bright mic. It was kind of a pleasure to work with. Needed very little fixing.

yup thats about the jist lol.
This is a Rap chain hence the dual compression.
i use the first eq for subtractive
then the 2nd eq is the infamous Neve 73 emulation to give it some sweet color.
Side chaining is important for presence. You can also just squash the vocal heavily with a Compressor 20:! type ratio and it will have a very nice effect.

FAB FILTER MB is a just a gat damn beast!!!!!
If the your de esser is just to narrow you you need some subtle to crazy correction that thing can handle it.. Big ups for the Multiband!
