You gotta be fucking kidding me, FL is too slow for large databases, doesn´t read metadata, etc..

Yeah I also bought Audiofinder years ago, at the momnet it feels that the developement stands a bit still. :/
Just use KeyFinder to add the key to the sample name

One disadvantage of Audiofinder ist that you cannot just drag and drop to move samples as it is possible with resonic.
    Another workflow :
    Finder + Snapper (fast playback)
Tagging in macOS is also a powerfull way to organize samples and find them.

In my case that's not only for auditioning my sounds but for changing playstart position or pitch/speed in realtime when my DAW is playing.

Some applications let you organize your files properly in a easy way, you can create "inside the program" folders, search by meta-data, thesaurus, etc... It can be really handy regarding the type of project you're working on!

In the case of Audiofinder, Samplism, Resonic (just few exemples) you can even slice your sounds/loops on the fly. This type of sample manager can be a great help to find specific sounds quickly and adjust them to fit in your project.

Finally IMHO each DAW should have a more complexe file management system integrated... everybody would be happy :)
The best i know for now is the reaper browser... great software but i use it exclusively for mixing/mastering not for composition because of the "rack system" in live and bitwig...

I think i will open a thread "What's your workflow?" it's always interesting to discover how other people work and why they choose a way rather than an other!

When it comes to speed nothing beats Everything. The very fraction of a second you type in a word, it's shown. You can filter by folders, audio, video, executables... Supports placeholders, paths, exact order of letters...
Loads kind of MFT into RAM and needs ~ 70MB for 1 Million files.

    And it's free!

Really interesting! It seems great to find similar sounds!

Without this function it reminds me ADSR sample manager! I use it mainly for drums as a plugin, handy thesaurus here!
    And it's free :)

I cracked almost everything but...Samplism is the only software I bought for Mac!!!!
I’ve searched for years for a solution on using an asset audio management and this one is the perfect solution.
    One word: beautiful!!!!
Easy to use and perfect match for my day to day audio production.
I’ve used in the past Audiofinder...worst interface ever! Looks like when I’ve used it on Leopard!
For Windows I recommend Resonic (not pro).
    The free version is enough.
If you’re on Mac, please try Samplism for free and you’ll fall in love!
ADSR is not bad at all...but I don’t like it to use as a VST. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t do it as a standalone version.

Yes, "Everything" is great! I have the portable version with Liberkey.
I use LiberKey and PortableApps to keep these progs updated.
On my own computer I run them from their executable, bypassing the portable hosts' wrapper so fewer resources are used. They will write to registry instead of storing settings and prefs in the portable folder, etc, but on my own computer that's fine! Occasionally I will run them from the host to save settings in the portable folder, so if I take them on a flash drive to another computer I don't have to fiddle with them much. Love portable stuff!
