Please, feel free to continue to embarrass yourself.

    This whole thread is sub-moronic.

Ok, but is there really nothing of value at all that you can find and have a more fruitful and more friendly discussion about? What scenario would you like to see from now on? Ought it not to be possible for you to try to find some common ground so as have a more mature and mutually beneficial discussion? Or is your goal simply to try to win an argument or something to that effect, stopping MMJ from writing in the forums?

Not everone has the same preferences when it comes to learning as you, right? Do you for instance think I am wrong to find value in MMJ’s view on theory, and his devotion to help members, should there be something one would like to have explained more in depth or even in an other way.

In the end it is a bit like viewing a trainwreck as someone said. Or maybe more like watching people who hate Udemy tutorials keep downloading them for free only to write to the teacher everyday to let them know how bad they are at teaching. One would think maybe one letter with the same content would be enough, especially when posted in public.

This post is not specifically aimed at you, but for the few who keeps coming back mainly to fight instead of engaging in a productive manner. We ought to be happy to have someone write about music theory in the forums, no matter if the style of teaching does not suit everyone or even the most.

  4. Do we even need an education forum? I just took a look at the contents and it's broader than I imagined. Anyone could be forgiven for thinking it was for the exclusive use of jazz theory.

It's a bit interesting. MMJ logs out and simultaneously Farao logs in or most of the time they both are online. I've also noticed that sometimes dear Sir and MMJ make comments at the same time. One exactly after the other.

Sir offends and threatens other members with his ignore button and Farao talks about the forum's rules and reports. I never say they are the same person because I love MMJ but a bit odd.

On an aside how does the ignore button work does it simply not show any messages from that individual or do you still see their replies to other members?

  7. Without inflammation, understanding anything in music theory has nothing to do with the ability to read music or knowledge of theory gained from reading music, it is a choice.

George Shearing, Ray Charles, Julian Lee and Stevie Wonder had a wonderful understanding of music theory. Shearing was exceptionally strong in music harmony in jazz.

They were/are ALL blind - The only way they could possibly read music is if it was put into braille.

Why do you want to know it? In AZ there's nothing to ignore. People ignore that want to be ignorant or some specific style-stickers that don't want to be enlightened and I'm sure you're not one of them.:mates:

Without reading, your ultimate understanding from the music would be just the jazz mentality.

I know exactly why Jazz sounds different than other styles but my life is in danger here if I want to allude to more.

Lager I'm wondering if the ignore button is really effective after all some people said they were ignoring me but seem to reply to my posts so I'm curious as to how it's implemented.

  14. Do you really believe so fiercely in his altruism to help members make better music? Since he keeps bringing everything back to the jazz of a bygone era, who is it really helping? I have said elsewhere there is a poll on the sister site and only 3% express an interest in jazz/classical. The vast majority are interested in electronic music, not Benny Goodmans wailing clarinet solos. So this is why this post has incited such division. It drew us in with a question that was disingenuous. Why? Because MMJ had no intention of providing guidance, as you so nobly endow him, with help in composing a pop, rock, trap or metal song by aiding any request for theory as it relates to those genres that he so despises. Now I ask you, has your music benefited from his lengthy lectures? In what ways? Are you applying jazz phrasing to your music? If so, I'm not sure how since nothing that he has written provides any aspects of timing, cadences, phrasing, expression... if you really want to learn jazz it cannot be in such a static, stilted format.

  16. Isn't it a great thing nobody here assumes anything and knows everything! :winker:
You'd be wrong but that is neither here nor there.

  17. Whatever is popular globally at the time. Classical Music, Jazz, Rock, Grunge, Alternative, Punk so on and so forth were all classed as 'Pop Music' in their time.

The 3% you have mentioned probably is almost correct globally, maybe as high as 5%. People identify with a vocal more than a lot of music.3% of 7.7 billion people is still around 231 million people.

  18. What if they're Americans? What if they're all Trump supporters? The consequences could be horrifying. We now cross live to the White House. And sure enough, I can hear Duke Ellington from the Oval Office. This is a dark day in the history of contemporary music.

  19. Now THAT is funny

My friend, you are projecting your penchant for telling the truth and what appears to be: a more reasonable state of mind, and a healthy amount of follow through, unto the OP, his cronies, doppelgangers, minions, or otherwise uniformed followers. I can't really tell at this point.

The liars hit ignore as often as they upload some sort of recording of themselves playing any amount of music demonstrating the theory written by the OP. No music, just theoretical music. No ignore button hits. Just theoretical, button hits. Coupled with ridicule, vitriol, and deflection.

An actual observation. Not just a theoretical observation.
