Omnisphere and Kontakt-Librarys thats all i need

    iam using them for:

EBM/Industrial/Ambient-Industrial :grooves: and an endless bunch of effects :bleh:

but in fact i tried a few others but i always come back to those as i think its not depending on how much "Plugins"

you have its the way of knowing what your doing with them

Any synth that will let me create the sound i want as quickly as possible will always be on the top of my list.
On the hardware front it's still, by far, the Nord Lead 3 for everything because it's so flexible and so fast to use.
As for virtual, FAW Circle is my current favourite in this regard. Not much I could not do with it.
My second go-to is FM8 and Absynth, but mainly for presets.

I have tried many, many others in the past but most synths can be replaced by existing ones and finally it's the best usability that makes me decide for a specific one that I want to learn and use frequently.

Thats a diffucult one to pindown here. To me its depending on what im working on and what its purpose and end goal

but I see it as, if you truely master 1 synth, then you've more or less conqured them all.

sorry to reply with such a boring answer :D

Would you believe that I'm still using v1.1.9 although the free V2 update came out a year ago?
VPS sounds interesting but I'm already more than happy with the wavetable import already and obviously too lazy to update... well, I really should, I know!

    Trio used another one.

I learned the basics of synthesis (ADSR) with it:

    I still have it. :)

And this was my first sampler:

You owned that thing? Wow. :wow:
I guess that was about the time when the Ensoniq Mirage appeared...

I wonder what kind of music you did with the C64.

And the results are in! Thank you to all who participated in the poll and gave an insight into your methods. I think it looks safe to say that Sylenth1 seems to be the clear first choice for most and I think I definitely need to brush up on it and discover what makes it so popular. Spire looks to be a bit of a dark horse as well and I will definitely be checking it out in more detail.

    Much appreciated.

I didn't really get into Spire until i watched a bass gorilla tutorial on it.
I think it was called Sound design with Spire. Should be easy enough to find. PM me if you can't.
It was worth a quick scan.
And Spire is definitely worth the time

Massive, because when it comes to envelopes/LFOs/stepper and routing, everything else I've tested barely reaches Massive to its knees.

And of course it doesn't hurt that those wavetables give you a plethora of sound variations.

People seem to think it's a digital monster, but it is purposely analogue in nature (filters sound different, not just louder, when driven harder, and knobs won't let you enter values, you have to play it by ear).

Haven't given Zebra a decent go yet but I know some things about it, and it certainly has class!

I punched in Massive for the vote. It was hard to choose, but that is the best choice for me. I truly enjoy using most of Native Instruments' VSTs.

I started out making Hip Hop beats and sampling when I got started. After learning more about the ever changing music world (DAWs, VSTs, Synths, etc.), I tried a few free players from NI. I actually thought Kontakt was a company when I first got wind of it~ But, I was introduced to synths in a haphazard way. I used a few when I was solely using FL Studio, then I moved into only producing in Pro Tools.

I own Maschine and Massive. I am learning them. I think that's important. I am just getting familiar with synths. After using what I have, I may check others out. But, Reaktor is a close second to Massive. I love Absynth for a certain sound I put into a few tracks. Massive mostly for leads, Absynth for ethereal moods & backgrounds, Reaktor for basses, and whatever piano or other instruments I feel like using in Kontakt. I started fiddling with FM8 a bit, and it sounds great, too. I think this all says that it's about the user and not the machine. But, I couldn't save my sounds in the FM8 demo. So, that one is on the back-burner.

I have no experience with Sylenth or Omnisphere. Given that they get great reviews, I'd like to try them. But, I don't get paid to make music. So, in my restricted time, I'm learning and building with what I know and have. Then, I'll move on or add in new tools.

Truth be told, I only learned of AZ in the past year. That's how I learned of Sylenth, Spire, and plenty other plug-ins.

here's a few that i would term 'go to' synths.
Surge is one - i am amazed that it is hardly mentioned in threads like this. still mining its possibilities years after first coming to it. it really is very powerful.
Synth1 needs a mention to, and a brilliant choice if you want to actually learn about synthesis. it seems a bit cheap on the surface but there is power 'under the hood'.
i also keep coming back to Dune for pads and pretty melodic arps etc..
and best of all ( in usability at least is Zebra which is still awseome.)
there are others but i would be here all day. those are my main and most common ones right now

ps.. i forgot to mention, the king of the hill!!
    reaktor : )
