Have been out of the loop (pun intended ) for creating beats.
I know most serious beat makers will use dedicated hardware but what about software?
What's your favorite for both programming and inspiring sounds?

Most Kontakt instruments I've come across don't give you individual control of each sound (like assign to separate outputs)

I recall way back I'd use NI Battery but I don't have it installed anymore and it hasn't been updated in ages.

Most popular among hip-hop and EDM music are FL Studio and Ableton Live. I know of a few oldheads that still use Pro Tools + Battery or an MPC, but most drum programming nowadays is done with the built-in samplers in one's DAW of choice.

Straight away Maschine here, but ofcoz in combination with others either plugins or hardware... but Maschine will be the main DAW. In fact even if I arrange in Studio One, I will rewire Maschine in it.

I corrected your comment, but remember that links to warez are not allowed here.

i usually write straight into the DAW with audio clips and layer etc there too. i find the DAW timeline and tracks to be far more flexible. probably not very useful if you are playing live though.
when i am playing drums live i use battery, but it is rare that i do.

    Maschine + Logic.

If I route Maschine's Group or Sound Outputs to the DAW it sounds better than summing through Maschine – without any other plugins involved. I don't know why, but the frequency separation and depth feels better. It's easier to mix, too. You should test it for yourself.

Do you need the hardware to use Maschine?

Tried it, it has nice features but just don't like how it sounds and not inspired by it. Thanks anyway
