    Hey everyone!

I’ve been diving deeper into comic books recently and I'm curious to hear from others. What’s your favorite comic book series, and what makes it stand out to you? Is it the storyline, the artwork, or the characters?

I’ve also been exploring stripverhalen, which are a unique type of comic that I find fascinating. Do you enjoy this style, or do you have other recommendations? Do you prefer Marvel, DC, or indie comics? I’d love to get some recommendations for new titles to explore!

Looking forward to seeing what you all suggest!

    Gunmu / Battle Angle Alita.
    Love it since the nineties.
    Film wasn't too bad either.
//Edit// And what I love about it is how Kishiro manages to pack a whole universe of feelings into one single look. And how he integrates western styles into his drawings. That's why I didn't like those huge eyes in the movie. For a manga those characters don't even have those eyes. The movie would have been better without them.
Besides that the storyline, the fights and the newest body parts are great.

Artwise I'd have to go with The Metabarons saga. Juan Giménez' talent, consistency, and hard work to draw and paint that whole thing is off the hook.

    1. Heavy Metal (influenced by the French comic Métal Hurlant). Great artwork.

    2. I'll give you one clue - Crom!

    3. Scooby-Doo, obviously.

Far and away, anything R. Crumb had to offer! He was a free thinker and exposed his inner mind in all it's insanity for all to see. His style was unique as was his view of the world.

Probably The Invisibles, every time I go through it I pick up something new, and see the world a bit differently.

It did suffer from changing artists while individually great it kind of suffers from cohesion because of that. Then again, it's cohesion is very meta anyway so I just think that was on purpose.

"If you don't get it the first time, you have to keep running it. It's different every time."

Then anything by Alan Moore, but they're one-offs, not series. "From Hell" is a masterpiece.

Crumb is unique for sure, and a lot of his stuff is just unhinged. Great artist, of course I love his sixties comix stuff.

Still, one of my favourites of his is the illustrated Book of Genesis. Crumb fans didn't like it because it took the Bible literally, and religious people didn't like it because because it took the Bible literally.

Just finished rereading the invisibles and currently doing the swamp thing/hellblazer stuff chronologically. Grew up on 2000ad which is excellent.

After The Invisibles, highly recommending The Filth also by Morrison (art by Weston/Erskine). It was written as kind of a companion piece to The Invisibles and it's very messed up as well.

One of my favorites is "The Filth" which almost feels like a companion piece to The Invisibles others have mentioned.
The art is amazing. It is a perfect blend of bizarre, humorous, and deep.

My comic collecting days ended right after Marvel rebooted the X-Men with Jim Lee in 90/91 (I think that was it)? My whole collection was sadly in a storage unit I lost years ago. About the only comics I even have left are those #1's with the five different covers (I think I have the first few X-Force's still too). That was a weird time, Marvel pissed me off for killing the New Mutants, and then they rearranged the X-Men and X-Factor, X-Force came out and the mutants were all ruined for me.

Prior to that, used to read Uncanny X-Men, X-Factor, New Mutants, Excalibur, Wolverine, TMNT, the various Robotech comics, and my shop would pull all the crossover issues for those characters for me too (getting my parents to buy them all back then was a chore). Was super stoked for McFarlane's Spider Man title, collected that up until he quit and started Image Comics and blew everybodies mind with Spawn. I started collecting New Warriors and Guardians of the Galaxy when they launched but got bored with them real quick. When I saw the Guardians movie for the first time I went 'WTF ARE THESE PEOPLE?' haha.

Asterix is solid gold, all of it. Loved them as a kid, still love 'em. Goes to show that you can be clever, funny, and educational all at the same time.

Reminds me of a small story... A friend of mine was visiting me in London where I lived at the time, and amongst other things (like pubs, clubs, and making music) he wanted to see British Museum. So we went and at one display he just froze. It was a Roman Legion helmet, and he just went, completely transfixed, "It's just like in Asterix".

Lucky Luke is the title character of a Belgian comic book series by artist Maurice De Bevere, aka Morris, published since 1946.

With more than 30 million copies sold in Germany, it is the most successful comic book series in the album sector after Asterix and the most well-known and successful Western comic book worldwide. In addition to the comics, films, animated series, and merchandise have also contributed to its popularity, with some interplay, of course.
