What's the "latest" LPX version that will (unofficially) run on Mojave?

Latest = fully working - if a feature doesn't work and actually requires you to upgrade OS I wouldn't count it as "latest"

I'm keeping mine at 10.5 either way.

10.5.1 is the last Mojave-compatible version.
10.6.x all require Catalina, and 10.7.x all require Big Sur.

I've heard there was a way to patch the Catalina versions and make them run on Mojave, that's why I'm asking

Nope. Logic links against system frameworks, you can't just tweak a plist and expect it to run.

Perhaps you're confusing this with patching *Mojave*, to let Mojave run on older, non-Metal machines only capable of running Catalina.

Which is possible - I did it. However, certain areas of Logic *require* Metal, and will crash without it, so even if you patch Mojave and get it running on an old machine, 10.5.x is not stable on it.

The newest 10.7 (10.7.8) actually now has changed to new Minimum System Requirements of Monterey already (only been 1 year):

    Minimum System Requirements
    • macOS 12.3 or later
    • 6GB of available storage space for minimum installation or 72GB of storage space for full Sound Library installation
    Logic Remote Minimum System Requirements
    iPad: iPadOS 14.0 or later

    iPhone: iOS 14.0 or later*

iPod touch: iOS 14.0 or later*

    * Smart Controls, Sound Library navigation, Smart Help, full mixer, and access to plug-in controls are available only on iPad.

10.7 has required Monterey since I think 10.7.4 (which wasn't released at the time I posted the above info - a year ago - which was correct at the time). So yes, from (iirc) 10.7.4, you need Monterey 12.3+ as a minimum.

But it wasn't 10.7.8 where the system requirements changed, it was earlier.
