which is lighter on cpu , softube or ik multi ?

 

i deleted all ik multimedia plugins (was not impressed by all of them). so i can't compare anymore. but softube tape is extremly cpu light. one of the reasons why i use it.

Taupe from Acustica has the largest selection and tone shaping abilities and sounds great. IK's sound really good. Tim P in nebula is incredible. Especially the clipper. One not listed here and is SEVERELY slept on is Sketch Cassette from aberrant dsp. Really useful plugin. Affordable. Awesome Dev's. Just a really sick plugin.

I love TimP's but not a huge fan of Taupe tbh. Cupwise AX102 is my answer personally. I also voted for IK Multimedia and UAD bc their Studer A800 is super clean

 

I would almost like to ask to have a choice of "none of the above". I've never used any tape simulator that I didn't ultimately decide was doing more harm than good on some aspect of the sound.

 

For anyone in disbelief of just how good the Ax102 is, make sure you're running it at 96 kHz with Azzimov's most recent skin, with THESE tweaks applied to the setup (and/or N4.5's xml, tho you shouldn't really mess with it too much):
