wavesfactory cassette. I use it in so many different ways, from creating "digital tape loops" to detuning/modulating pads to creating sick guitar tones. I use it almost every project

 

I'm not sure about the plugin, but this is the perfect example why these threads are good. I'd probably never try this thing, and now I will look at it. Once the hype surrounding a plugin/release is over, you get real answers about stuff.

 

These threads are more interesting for VST holders than serious ones. Just do what you will. You also have the mods and rules behind you!

I've heard of marrying an Anime character, but marrying a VST is pretty hardcore.

 

there are a lot of tape plugins out there that I have tried and some "reel" plugins as well. To my ears this sounds most authentic to an actual cassette. The distortion is perfect and my favorite thing to mess with is the random snap feature in conjunction with the stability randomness... It works great on big lush ambient pads (best results when mixing the dry signal source audio with a full wet bus of the cassette plugin)

Oh yeah, Microtonic is one for the ages, how could I forget?

And I can't say for long term, but bx_oberhausen has been fantastic. I'd imaging if I bought it I would not have been disappointed neither.

Now that I think of it, both of these share a few things together, but the biggest thing is: both are deceptively simple. They both offer tones that you wouldn't think of just looking at the interface (which are great). So they're quick to tweak to your liking, and you can make both fit into basically any tune you're working on, it's almost as the "right" settings are magnetic, you can't help but to fall into it.

And they sound great, that's a given.
