What's an artist you like but you wouldn't tell anyone who knows you?

Not ashamed in the slightest bit, but let's say it's not typical of me. I really like late 90s-early 2000s trance-tech-dnb-house influenced pop music.

I also have a soft spot for Camille Jones, whose 2008 album Barking Up The Wrong Tree is the soundtrack to my porn actress alter ego's life :

i love it all! im a huge music head, everything from obscure 70's prog to gabber death core, to britney spears, mumble rap, classical, metal, icelandic folk, shitty edm, everything lol. Im not ashamed, i love sharing it all and turning people on to music they may not have heard. Pretty much the only music that doesnt gel with me is drake, the weekend and travis scott lol.

LOL, you hate Mike Dean, he mixed most of the songs of those artists (i don't know Drake, but Travis and Abel, for sure he was the major mixer)

I'm mostly into "serious" metal (progressive, post-, melodic death - you get the drift), but I have a huge sweet spot for Japanese songs, especially anime openings/endings. I pretty much never listen to them in public, but I love their weirdness and cool chord progressions :)

Anything tokusatsu related. I think these compositions are simply incredible and brilliant. They are a clear demonstration of energy, technique (hybridization of different styles) and feeling situated in a short time span. They marked an era and still work very well. And when I mention that I listen to these things with my fellow musicians, I always get teased.... to which, minutes later, some of them say: "—the important thing is that we have a good laugh at the expense of your bad taste... :lmao: no dude, for real, those songs are amazing, etc."

I could give 2 shits about the artists. They’re all mostly autotuned sex objects anyways & I’d be embarrassed to say I actually like them. It’s the producers who do all the sausage making… Dua Lipa (Ian Kirkpatrick & Julia Michaels). Ariana Grande (Mr. Frank’s) & Adele (Greg Kurstin)

If anyone feels the need to hide their taste in music from others it's really time to consider a good course of psychotherapy.

In the 80s/90s my image was that of a hardcore anarcho punk and I was around that scene, both working and socially. I was however, musically speaking, always more into psych/prog/fusion/jazz/classical which made me REALLY fucking weird to your average punk rocker. It used to amuse me greatly when I got the "who you into" questions and I'd reply with J.S.Bach and Jean-Luc Ponty or suchlike. I'd also be very likely to point out that 99% of punk bands were actually total shit and that punk was a political state of being, not a musical genre, which would cause many a scene brain to malfunction. There were quite a few fashionistas that took great exception to such things, especially when you also pointed out the hypocrisy and narrow perceptions of their insular cliquey world.

I'd also do similar psy-ops by going out in the most conservative middle class establishments imaginable (if they let me through the door with my appearance), which would completely twist the minds of those that had ill-conceived, sterotypical notions of what a person that looked like me should be like. They simply had to approach the circus clown guy and interrogate him (and touch his hair) That's when I'd get political...

    J. Views - one of the most interesting artists in terms of the sound palette. Wildly unknown and super cool. He also makes great sample packs - Organic Electronics.

And also The Kount. Another guy I discovered because of his samples. Very funky grooves and a signature "homely", "cozy" sound.

    Gatekeeping is bad, but... lol.

This is just my music brain making connections here, but just for fun i'd thought share it: This band sounds like an exact hybrid of Mars Volta, Closure In Moscow, and Billy Talent.
It's like they're right in the center of a venndiagram between...

Mars Volta for the vocals @1:15 - 1:50 (both tone/range and some melody sensibilities too):

Billy Talent production-wise (instrumental tone and palette, mixing, particularly guitars @0:46):

Closure In Moscow, just overall vibe:
