What's a good plugin to use as a frequency splitter?

If you are, for instance, setting up an effect rack in Ableton Live and you want to split your rack into three chains that are divided by frequency, what plugin would you use to split them? Obviously using an EQ or filter has its drawbacks they aren't especially designed to create clean crossover points. Ableton's EQ3 could more or less be used this way if not for the fact that it creates artifacts (I'd seen a tutorial where a guy stacked several of them onto a track with no boost or cut and them switched them on and off. The difference was noticeable even on laptop speakers). Multiband sort of works for this but I find it kind of impractical. And on and on... Basically I haven't found a great solution for this yet. Any input appreciated.

I use multiband too, saved in an audioeffect rack. Don't know how much more practical can it get. [IMG][IMG]

Yeah I guess I just wasn't a fan of the way the band switching on/off and soloing worked. Up until now that's what I've used, but I was looking for alternatives. That said, I never went and did the obvious move of saving it in a rack so I don't have to futz with switching bands on and off

image.jpeg I've used hornet 3xover. It is not 100% transparent but it is good and cheap.

actually, I use fruity patcher with pro q2 and do not experience Extreme artifacts in zero-latency and even less in linear phase mode if the if the bands exactly mirrors the Q and steepness.
bind the frequency bands to one fader and you can sweep it nicely
