Very first sampler (used as drum machine too).

Then I bought this and put em togheter:

Sold both, bought both of these:

Then sold EMX-1, kept ESX-1 alongside this:

I was quite obsessed with electribes uh?
They was just intuitive and sound not so bad.
The quasimidi raveolution used to sound really good, now I regret I sold it.

From then on, just ableton and PC first, then Mac.

    my first keyboard:

i bought it brand new when they first came out, and i still have it today.

    my first drum machine:

not really a drum machine in the sense that it doesn't have any way to sequence the sounds. i used midi triggers to play the sounds.

after had a sr-16 which was first machine I owned that sounded like drums

    Followed up by DJX

Both drum machines died and I moved into samples and computer sequences for drums two decades ago.
The synths all survive and get some use, but a midi kit on the pro one is on my to do list.

Dad had a Fender Rhodes mk1 when I was 4 yo:

The Poly800 was the first synth I ever bought with my own money (around age 13). Before that I had used trackers on Atari and Amiga, and coded my own sounds in Basic on a C=64 (age 11-12):

Wow, seeing some of this gear kinda makes me feel like a kid again :)

    First synth:

    First drum machine:

Used those puppies with one of these...

...to make my very first own recording way back in the glorious 80's, a rather crappy cover version of Everything Counts by Depeche :keys:

My mum had a cheap electric organ with a built in cheesy rhythm box.
It kinda looked like this, but with only one row of keys:

She used to play that and sing a lot of old folk songs when i was growin up. That's probly why I always want some melody in a track.
That organ was the instrument I first started to learn how to play.

  14. I had a Teac 246 Portostudio, an Ensoniq ESQ 1 and an Alesis HR-16b. I was way cool with the 16 tracks of midi. Too bad I had only like 16 voices before things kinda broke down, but still....I though it sounded pretty good but deep down I knew I was only fooling myself.

After borrowing a SR-16 from a friend and recording some songs with it, I bought a Boss dr-5 second-hand, which I have until today. I even used it live with a duo I had with a friend: he sang and played the bass (sometimes we had another friend playing the bass) and I played the guitar, programed and pressed play in the drum machine on our live performances (this baby has general midi instruments too - one of its tracks is for the drums, and the other three for the instruments - which I programed for some songs):

This was in 1997/1998. And we recorded two albuns with it, the first one in a Tascam 4 track portable cassette recorder.

Never had a keyboard: I'm a guitar player. Now I have a Korg microkey.

i got my first keyboard for free along with a "cubase lite" copy and a simple midi interface to control a "Quasimidi Technox". That's 20 years ago and the worst environment thinkable. But i had fun back in the days

yeah, but the picture shows a Roland MC 505. I bought one in 1997 after watching the german "wetten dass" show, where madonna performed "frozen" and William Orbit was playing with the d-beam controller. It was a fucking bad machine and i sold it with loss 1 year later
