I hearya on the age thing. I've gotten harder to impress as I've grown older. I can't even rubberneck at college girls like men my age do – my standards of what appeal to me about women have refined, and they only partly have to do with looks.

The same goes for music. When younger, one is more receptive, more easily impressed (being more impressionable), less experienced and discerning, and with more of a sense of time to waste in general. Now that I'm older, it's the inverse of all that, but I'm also finding a lot of popular music today really wimpy, kinda lame, without much skill in songwriting or composition, over-compensated with trendy and uninnovative production techniques – and emasculated, with guys (lest I say "men") singing like chicks, or like little boys.

To answer your question: I've been most impressed with some of the things I've done recently. I'm amazed that I've been able to do such things, and some of the stuff seems to have transpired in spite of myself. When you get older, you stop looking for "it" outside yourself, and you discover "it" within yourself.

I also do like this song by the Aussie duo Gooch Palms - great melody and no b/s:

Dang! That's an excellent question. There's just so many from which to choose, these days. Having said that, there's a particular track that floors me without fail... I just get an attack of the wet eyes syndrome whenever I listen to it. I'm sorry that it's almost as old as Tutankhamun's sock but here goes. Dead Can Dance 'The Host of Seraphim'

I connect with the SOUL of a track...that's what I look for...I don't care who the singer is, who the engineers are...that doesn't matter when I am a 'listener'. One of my favorite artists is Elton John for his depth of soul...I'm Puerto Rican, I'm not 'supposed' to be listening to Elton John LOL
