I thought this thread is about taste and preferences, but it turns out to be angry talk about technical nonsense.

After browsing through a hundred libraries I can say that most of them are high quality.

My preference for now goes to Beatbox Anthology 2 and Drum Designer, and OB and JP Anthologies, and most of the other synth emulations in general. Some sounds are just WOW :disco: (a good complement to Arturia's, hope they fit better in mixes though)
I like Ravenscroft, like many of you, but I'm still a big fan of Emotional Piano. For keyboards, I think I'll stick to Keyscape.

I need to try many other libraries a little deeper, cuz a hundred is a LOT

I don't get that some guys here don't like (not to say HATE) Falcon and its almost endless possibilities... It is as silly as saying "I don't like Kontakt" or "I hate Serum")
May be you should buy a new pair of ears for Next Black Friday or Christmas, or you should ask R2R to do it for you, as you are nothing but spoiled kids who don't know shit.

So you say if the website is telling 17.52GB Flacs used for the product mean the ufs has to be 17.52GB in size?

Now tell me one thing: how the heck should the ppl that bought some libs to supply strip down the size of the ufs files through downgrading the audio content of them? Which program could they have used to open/edit the ufs files? And how should they know?

The only thing that could happen here is that the decryption of the ufs files is somehow incomplete and is not able to open up the full potential, but for sure it can't downsize the ufs file and strip out anything.

Not What I intended when I created this.... I want peoples opinions on the best ones, to filter out the nonsense and know which is worth keeping before they're taken down. But a lot of people have done that thankfully

Maybe this will stop this silly argument...(apologies in advance for aiding to continue this crap, but my hope is to put it to bed)

I'm certain the confusion comes from the difference between a byte and a kilobyte not being 1000, but rather 1024. Windows reports files in KB in Windows Explorer, by default. If you were to just simply right click and pick properties, you'll get the value in bytes. This is the value UVI uses, and they appear to just do a straight 1byte = 1000kb = 1000mb = 1000gb conversion rather than dividing by 1024 at each stage.

    So... looking at some examples:
8-bit synth... reported on UVI: 12.8GB. Actual file on my PC: 12,802,342,019 Bytes (12.8GB, if you're lazy, but this is really 11.9GB)
OB Legacy... reported on UVI: 17.94GB. Actual file on my PC: 17,933,516,800 Bytes.
Synth Anthology 3... reported on UVI: 14.47GB. Actual file on my PC: 14,473,149,560 Bytes.
WaveRunner... reported on UVI: 7.76GB. Actual file on my PC: 7,759,356,714 Bytes.
Drum Designer... reported on UVI: 1.86GB. Actual file on my PC: 1,854,785,860 Bytes.
Analog Motion... reported on UVI: 7.2MB. Actual file on my PC: 7,161,672 Bytes.
Digital Synsations... reported on UVI: 10GB. Actual file on my PC: 10,010,316,478 bytes.

Now let's complicate this further. We don't know that UVI has updated all of their numbers on their side as different versions of the soundbanks would potentially have slightly different file sizes. On top of that, as mentioned, compression and other things can confuse things further. But you can see from above, I've rattled off a number of soundbanks that match pretty much exactly what UVI is reporting (at worst, off by 0.01gb). I actually have a couple of banks that are larger than values reported on UVI.. does that mean R2R snuck some extra presets in? No, chances are that just means that UVI's file size as reported is out of date.. or some other very innocuous reason.

Comparing file sizes like you're Johnnie Cochran ("If it doesn't fit, you must acquit") isn't really the wisest way to go about this. I haven't downloaded UVI Drone (not one I'm interested) to see what number of bytes it takes up, and if it's actually 44.1khz or 48khz. No idea if Falcon reports that anywhere. All of the libraries I grabbed were 44.1khz straight from UVI though. I don't know if UVI dropped the Drone library down to 44.1khz like these other libraries, or what the deal is, however.

Anyways, I'd suggest you do what I did and look at the number of bytes UVI Drone takes up. I'd bet it matches pretty close. If not, perhaps UVI hasn't updated their specs or they downgraded it to 44.1khz and didn't report that. I don't have reason to believe R2R has spent a bunch of effort on making these libraries worse for everyone. That's not really what they do.

sorry mate, just wanted to shut up the conspiracy theorist. the worthwhile for me is any expansion that has the waldorf microave XT in it. used to own one but sold it and have regretted it ever since.

so that's waverunner and synth anthology 3. for me, those 2 expansions, are the worth.

I wanted to get UVI Drone but then I saw the filesize of 15 GB, I was like "wtf?"

Then I actually went to youtube and checked out how it actually works.
Everything is done in samples. The entire expansion works around these samples they recorded.

MAN IF DRONE WAS MADE IN UVI FALCON AND WITH ACTUAL OSCILATORS MAYBE THE FILESIZE WOULDN'T BE SO HIGH!

yeah, no, great answer, you really showed me... totally nothing...

the only thing you showed so far was a screenshot of the rutracker website, not the actual torrent in a client. ever considered that the info on rutracker might be a direct copy of the info posted on the sistersite of the compressed files? and that what you actually download, like what i showed in the screenshot, is the unpacked file? so the files aren't actually smaller, the rutracker site is just confusing you.
yeah, you just keep telling yourself that.

Those two made the cut for me too. I've kept all the vintage synths I downloaded (my list is on page 3). I'm not sure how long I'll hang on to all of them as the vintage synth type ones I have add up to around 150gb, but I'm having fun with them.
