This Modern U seems to be Seriously good.. Amazing

It sounds really big, clear and tasty for an Upright..
with even some Steinway-like tone on the high keys? :dunno:

I donno how they did it, but gotta try this one..

"The Modern U is sampled from a brand new Yamaha© U3 studio upright piano.
The newer model should be noted in that this includes the maker’s latest design with a warmer singing tone while still being clear and articulate,
plus the hammers are new and everything is to original specification.
This piano model could be considered an 'upright grand' with its long bass strings and soundboard area similar to that of a medium-sized grand piano.
While it is a large upright, it's still an upright with the characteristic sound but with a larger bass and longer sustain than smaller uprights.
    "

    True Keys also interesting..

That Fazioli is very nice too, maybe the best I've heard so far..

Probably much better than Waves Grand Rhapsody,
which imo is a broken and badly recorded/mixed piano..

And Key Suite Acoustic too, altho maybe not at the same level..

Virharmonic stuff is better than any other kontakt solo string library. (the uvi engine sucks tho)
Also maybe Acousticsamples stuff is worth trying but I still haven't figure out how to work with their Sunbird library.
For the UVI stuff I'm not really interested in any of them because most of them are like 20+ gigs of sone nonsense.
But I think I gonna keep Gospel Talkbox, Gospel Neokeys and maybe some of pianos. PX Memories is also good sounding according to demos but I can't justify havng 30 gigs of that library.

Both great, but Noire all the way for me. In my top 5.
I know. NOT the UVI Falcon! That was my point.
@yabiss Any idea what it is you Dislike, please?
    And @reliefsan?
    Just random dislikes, I guess?
Just disliking me asking what is the best piano?
    Right.

Not random at all. I disliked the fact that you rant like a small kid, "bro"
you made fun of the screencap although the screencap made you look bad, "bro"
And the funny part is that you kept on the same direction, "bro"
Errare humanum est, perseverare diabolicum "brum" :guru:
Or perhaps you don't know what VI means.

My current fave is OB Legacy. I also think I'll hang on to JP Legacy.

They are both pretty large though, which is a huge downside.. so I'd rather use something like Diva, or even Serum or OB-XD.. but the OB Legacy soundbank sounds quite good to me though. I'm pretty much considering hanging onto any of the vintage synth emulations, even though I have plenty of other options for vintage synth emu, such as Arturia, freeware options, and other things. Unfortunately these are all huge, and I'd probably want to keep around 150GB worth of soundbanks to play with for a while. I may eventually stop using them, but for now they're the new toy that sounds cool.

Opinions will vary, but for me, I'm keeping all the vintage synth emus, and one or two other things, because I'm all about the retro synth stuff right now. So here's what has survived the cut so far (I'll possibly pare it down a bit further):

8-bit Synth, Analog Motion, Digital Motion, Digital Synsations, Drum Designer, Emulation One/Two/II Plus, Energy, FM Suite, JP Legacy, OB Legacy, SubCulture (because "why not?"), Super-7, Synth Anthology 3, WaveRunner.

    You said:
Mate, that's hardware in the video! haha!
    Fail? Where da Falcon, bruh?

The Ravenscroft275 only works with the UVI engine (either Workstation or Falcon). Its clearly displayed in the product page: https://www.vilabsaudio.com/Ravenscroft-By-VI-Labs

    You said:
I want others to prove something about a good, responsive piano in Falcon that is equal in playability,

Even though it's not displayed in the video, he's using Falcon or Workstation to load and play Ravenscroft275 with a midi keyboard.

the stuff from gospel musicians is the worst, imho. i think the attack ep88 is the best sounding rhodes library on any platform. and it is incredibly versatile. the sounds that you can achieve with that library are nothing short of amazing.

and as for all of you people talking up the arturia garbage, just wow. arturia stuff sounds so dead and uninspiring to me.

to each his or her own i guess.

    I feel the same.

I'm not a fan of GM either, I've had issues in the past with bugs and their less than stellar support. Their Neo Soul Keys library is ok, but by no means does it compare to Attack EP88 or even Key Suite Electric, both of which are excellent in my opinion. I do use their TGX and BlueBeast libraries quite a bit though, if only because there aren't other alternatives and to be honest they sound great and are really well done.

Arturia is definitely lack luster for me as well. I bought V Collection and tried to vibe with it but for me it just falls short sound wise compared to UVI.

Ive been collecting synths some 20+ years and owned my fair share of analog and digital synths. I've also been a big supporter of UVI over the years and purchased the majority of their releases. I think UVI does a great job of capturing the essence of a lot of those synths, which I feel gets lost with other developer's emulations. The downside to that is the enormous file size of those libraries.

Like you said, it really boils down to preference. What sounds good to me may not sound good to someone else. Doesn't make it any better or worse, and all that matters is that you're using what inspires you to make music in the end.

Agreed! Maybe it's just because it's the latest toy for me, but I'm really liking their vintage synth emus so far. The presets sound pretty great, right out of the box. With something like Arturia, I find I can make them sound a bit nicer after running them through some FX, but they tend to sound pretty boring, on their own. It's nice to have something like UVI OB Legacy sound pretty good without any work. "Vintage Vault 3" is actually a pretty good price, all considered, with how much stuff you get in there (I haven't bought it.. just saying). It also seems like the interfaces are way cleaner and easier to figure out than V Collection. Maybe less versatile though, not sure.

Drum Machine also seems like it would be pretty good too, but I haven't had time to play around there.

These are my favourites too. Whoosh, Sweep Machine, Kinetics, Meteor. Sure, I can make sounds as nice as these manually, using a dozen different plug-ins and bouncing them down to wav, etc. But it'll take me a day to do what these soundbanks can do in ten minutes.

I've also downloaded Drum Designer and Inner Dimensions (because I mostly make techno and tech house.) Haven't tried Drum Designer yet -- I downloaded it because I saw a few people rave about it -- but Inner Dimensions is about as lacklustre a soundbank as I've ever heard. I don't make Trance myself but Hypnotic Dive makes some useful trance sounds.

I'll also grab Drone if it shows up.

I think Arturia were going for accuracy rather than something that sounds good with a pile of FX on it. Whenever I got to play with one of the vintage synths that people rave about, the lack of FX always tended to make me feel a bit underwhelmed. That's just how they are.

Falcon's strength is really that you don't have to do the sound design yourself -- someone else has already done it for you. Sometimes that's what I'm looking for -- but usually, I prefer to make my own sounds.

I deleted many falcon libs but I kept:
    World 2
    Ravenscroft piano
    Augmented piano
    Quadra muted and harmonics
    Asteroid
    Drum designer
    Hypnotic dive
    Inner dimensions
    Kinetics
    Beat anthology
    Subculture 1 and 2

I avoided all the analog synth and samplers/workstation emulations.

Yah I agree with that. For me, I definitely don't mind doing some work to make things sound a little more alive, but I also sometimes like to just roll through some presets looking for inspiration. So they both have their uses. I personally don't really think of it as having to pick between Arturia V Collection (or another option) and Falcon's emus... I consider it as an extra tool to work with. Although perhaps also an extra tool with an overwhelming amount of presets to get lost in... lol

Edit: @Graf Oops, I said Drum Machine, but I actually meant Drum Designer. I haven't really used it yet, but looks like it might be a decent library.

designer is ok, compare to wave alchemy drumvolution, sample magic klip (pulled), and izotope breaktweek.
i was kinda hoping all those sounds might have good drums, but its alot of HD space for some drum samples. like arturias cmi is

the drums in Designer are nice, but I have many better samples. The best thing about the Designer is that you can draw very quickly. you have 8 MIDI parts (with fast sounds) and 4 pages to make loops. bottom right corner, hit generate. drag the block that says export into a midi track of your DAW. it also exports velocity values, which you rarely see in this sort of thing. Å few gigabytes more drums on an external is no big deal breaker.

I don't replace all the drums, generally. You will find that many of them fit really nicely in a mix without a ton of work. especially the bread and butter stuff. It's also nice when you have Falcon loaded into a project already.
