Love this take. I agree. Its pretty bad at being creative. But a creative mind can use the tool to their advantage.

One of the arguments is AI is making people dumber. Which I agree with for people who dont look at it with a creative mind. All my creative friends are 10X-ing what they are doing now. Not meaning output but quality.

This isnt caveman bashing a keyboard "MACHINE GIVE ME THING" its a creative mind that can use the tool in a way that can take what they are doing to the next level. That creative open minded dreamer mentality is the type of mind I see benefiting from a tool like this.

Yesterday I tried to convince Grok that it was inferior to Sonnet and Opus because Grok is only version 4.5 and Claude is 5.0 and Grok needs to catch up because people notice haha

 

I had a weird experience with asking ChatGPT to find me information on the circumstances of an old friend's death. On three separate attempts, the LLM gave me three varying scenarios, with increasing immediately-verifiable inaccuracy. I end up using AI chat bots embedded in browsers or searches for dry information, such as how to mitigate spikes in CPU usage on my particular model of Macbook Pro. Both GPT and Google's Gemini have made stuff up, or refused to provide me with results, and then gaslighted me about it when I called them out on it.

 

exactly my thought. that is exactly how people ask, and then the machine - or a human teacher - is called "stupid" because he can not solve the problem.

 

Are you doing this is separate chats, or have you connected them all to interact with each other?

 

Sometimes I run them all in my IDE together or let one /orchestrate the others when Im developing.

But mainly the deep research that gemini does its pretty dope! so i use that then have other LLMs results sculpt the clay of what that gives me. Just copy pasting 3 diff LLMs into one main one.

Im sure there is a way to daisy chain them together. Probably through MCP. Never tried it tho.

Yeah they tend to be like a mirror. Low effort input "slop" use of these tools = slop out. High effort creativity thought and structure in can get some pretty amazing results out!

Is ChatGPT slow on your system too or is this just my problem?
When I start typing, it doesn't act responsively, and also writing information to the browser via ChatGPT takes a long time and uses a lot of CPU while its writing. Why does writing a simple text have to be so slow?

Codex runs fine on my M4 Max Mac. I haven't had any issue with it running in the background while Im doing something else on the computer. What do you mean by "writing information to the browser via ChatGPT"?

 

"He´s" scanning your cameras to give you a better answer, more related..not more accurate per se. You ask about a better lamp, it scans how bright is your room and so on.

 

I have only used it to ask for experimental vst's for amorph. The free version seems to be forgetting stuff so it is a pain if it is complex. Seems like alot of simple concepts have not been done yet but at the moment I am trying another vst generator.

 

I ask my questions directly from the chatGPT. I didn't use codex. My programming-related questions are mostly for learning not developing. When I ask chatGPT a question, it pauses for a few seconds, then when it receives my question, starts typing, line by line. This line-by-line typing takes about 20 seconds to complete, during which time my browser freezes and my system's CPU becomes extremely busy. This line-by-line typing seems very system-heavy to me because chatGPT probably uses a heavy graphics processing I don't know. It doesn't enter all the information in one go and starts typing line by line. This problem of not being responsive becomes more pronounced as the page gets longer.

 

Its weird that its eating up memory in your browser. maybe try another browser and see. Also the speed is the nature of LLMs depending on the thinking level they take time to return the tokens (text) back to you.

It does this in Opera also, if you are rendering scripts. It was very noticeable on my old Intel Mac. You can "bounce" your way around it, but it definitely lags a longer session. I never checked in Safari because I almost never use it.

Setting the personalization options can reduce its verbosity quite a bit, for "normal learning" sessions. A good amount of stuff people complain about are just model personalization adjustments.

 

I highly recommend using codex. Its not just for programming. Its basically just chatgpt desktop, a great overall work environment. Im pretty sure its available for all plans, including free.
