I think it's just because it's impractical because it adds latency and this is difficult to compensate in the analogue domain. I mean, imagine you insert such an EQ into a channel of a console, that won't work.
In a serial chain like mastering, it probably would.

  6. I'd love to get my hands on a hardware version of SSL's Native 2 Channel Strip.

I am not sure whether to laugh at this thread or what.

I have seen someone ask for Lexicon in Hardware.... Ummmmm..... Lexicon was a really expensive rackmount reverb in analogue and early SSL days.
Vst's, aax... etc etc are the digital equivalents because we no longer live in an analogue world of Neve desks, Studer Machiines and DAW's are the recorders now.
While you can still buy this equipment it's not the default environment anymore. It's like the Arturia simulation of analogue keyboards so on and so forth.... The digital world started as simulations. A few great developers have done things that analogue never had and kudos to them, but basically, this to me is almost like asking to go backwards instead of forwards.
That's my opinion only though. As you all were.

If there was a market for it, we would get that too. I think the trend researchers of the big companies read every forum and do market research to find out which products can be used to earn money in the future. However, the planning and production is very expensive and you have to be sure "very high numbers of items to sell". In addition, the global economy has shrunk, there is simply not enough money in people's pockets, rising rents, rising food prices and stagnating wages. Of course, the industry relies on software-based solutions.
