    Hey guys,

This is a weird question, but I've been considering learning more about working with video but not sure where to start.

What sort of software or technique would be needed to create something of this nature?

Also any recommendations on tutorials or anything of the sort would also be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks

Adobe after effects is a good place to start, plenty of tuts and templates out there, make sure your computer has good specs, video post production needs plenty of gogo juice, a good quality GPU, lots of RAM and storage space.

    pretty much this.
I can recommend http://www.videocopilot.net/basic/ for basic stuff and after that I just started to watch and recreate random tutorials from here: http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/ (mouseover for previews) maybe start with older/more simple stuff, depending on your learning capability

i recently found this site specialized in sharing graphics & video tutorials:
    http://www.cgplacenta.net/

i'm learning AE with "Lynda" tutorials which are really good. the good thing is that nearly all links work well with uploaded.to (and not some underground strange server like usual)

  6. AE I think is great more for scripted tracks, but prefer Max/Jitter more for adaptive playing like an instrument. My experience is more Max/NATO, but it's a similar idea. Also, Processing kicks all kinds of ass, and is free.
