I have JBL 308 and the Kali speakers are better. They are front ported and overall have a flatter and smoother sound.

I have to build a studio from the ground up, what I have already is a good PC, some acoustic treatment ready to be installed and a RNDI, what would you buy with 5000$? Would you get a pair of HS8s or spend a little bit more for something like EVE SC307s? I'm curious to know how would you allocate the money

 

I just recently got a pair of Presonus R65s, and I love them! I like the sound of them better than my friends Adam A7X. Non fatiguing, sound great, and go really low for 6.5". I use them with a sub that I already had, otherwise might've gone for the 8" version. But, the bass response on these 6.5" is really impressive. Only thing I don't like about them is there is a constant hiss thru the tweeter, which if you don't sit a foot away from them like I do, you may not even hear it. Think I got em for around $500 for the pair.

 

The problem with ribbon tweeter speakers is the sweet spot is smaller. I'd check out the Focal BE line. Solo6 BE or Twin6 BE are in the $1500- 2000 price range(per speaker) It's always worth the money to get better speakers tbh. Mixing on Focal speakers always translates to any system well imo.

 

Do you have experience with Adam A77Xs?

For critical low-mid volume mixing, look at the iLoud MTM monitors. Built-in calibration too.

 

Agreed 100%. For the price, it's a no-brainer for me.

 

actually if I was choosing monitors now, I might take a look at KALI AUDIO IN-8 - it costs almost twice as E8, but it's 3-way coaxial design which is very unsual to see and shall provide much better sound space:

Depends on your budget, and use Sonarworks or similar hard-software for room correction.
