    Hey world!

I've been trying to find out how to make this particular sound, thats often heard in trailer music or film music.

    It can be heard in:

    3:21 - 3:27

    and

    2:02 - 2:04

It feels like a bit like a riser but it's got good tension to it.
It sounds a bit like strings, but how do they make this sound?

Yeah it's a pretty iconic dramatic movie trailer sound.
Reverb on a violin going down in pitch with long decay, then reversed?

^Lol, Frolic. You make no sense.

    Slow string ensemble sordino glissando.
In synth-terms, slow pitch (up) envelope (or pitchbend or portamento/glide).

Set up a bunch of synths playing different starting notes/pitches, and automate all synth's pitchbend so that they all are different (raise speed, range, etc). It can also be done with pitch envelopes.
Edit: Or you can just add a bunch of oscillators in a synth and turn the unison way up, and pitch bend it up.

The different raising pitches will create dissonance and eery tension.
Kinda like the screaming ducks (but they are falling in pitch).

Simple trill articulation of any ensemble patch with bend up. Minor chord of course.

What baxter doesn't know sonically, isn't worth knowing.
