What is your favourite analog simulation software/technology (vote)

?

What is best sounding technology?

  1. SPICE-based simulations (UAD, Waves (AFAIK Waves then appr their models), I can't remember more)

  2. Math models (approximations/signal-based) (D16, TAL, AIR, Arturia, Roland, NI, PSP, FF, etc)

  3. Modified Nodal Analysis (U-he stuff, Cytomic?)

  4. Volterra Kernels/Convolution (AA)

  5. Additive/spectral modeling (in some whie papers) (signal-based)

  6. Sampling (IK Multimedia, Kontakt-based, Omnisphere)

  7. AI (in theory)

  8. Wavetables? (but for me they sound very digital and lifeless)

Synth - Synapse Audio The Legend / (MiniMoog) or Arturia Prophet V.
Plugin - Anything for Tube-tech CL 1B or PE 1C both softy be and UAD both cool or Waves Scheps (1073 console).

Took me a year to figure the ultimate analog mixbus plugin chain. Sounds like top notch hardware boutique stuff and i aint tellin, im selling.
Im not even fucking around, im dead serious. Had to go trough dozens and dozens of configurations to finally struck on gold. I have helped hundreds of people for free, not any more. Youd have to pay me some serious money for this info.
Listening to one of my tracks now, fucking juice baby. People paying thousands of dollars for the real deal and im using the shortcuts, who said life was fair?

Yeah must agree on that one for sure  A lot of free stuff often gets overlooked and tyrell n6 is insanely cool for a free synth. CM edition of Bazille from same be another great freeish! VST I guess.
Many people wrongly think free sort of translates to rubbish but it ain't like that at all
Doesn't happen much but I always don't know quite what to think when you see say DEVs releasing commercial preset packs for free lol
There some other great analog emulations floating about that are free I suppose.
Think the first TAL-Bassline is free and also some other cool older synths.
In fact there a lot of really good free analog synths floating about full stop I guess.
Also a lot of really great say Moog or Oberheim Reaktor Ensembles around and people don't immediately think about Reaktor.

When you take into account some of the Moog emulations like monark then Razor and all the other great ensembles and instruments then Reaktor got to be a clear winner really as in general you can do whatever you want lol

Another Volterra Vectorial Kernel Technology used by Acustica Audio (Nebula/Acqua plugins) vote
NEVER found something so impressive about non-linear approach.

Try OwnHammer Nebula cabs, Nebula mechanical reverbs (plates, springs...).
    Nebula Tapes/Consoles
    Acqua EQs/Comps...

    Always top :D
I'm still impressed, even when i use a SINGLE Nebula 2Bus console instance.

When it's about adding that "MOJO", I'm still a big fan of the old VarietyOfSound "Nasty" VST series. A perfect match to my taste.
For VSTi, it used to be Minimonsta, now it's rather Diva and Oddity 2, sometimes even the iOS Model 15, thor and iProphet.
For EQ it's hard to pick one best, if Live's EQ8 doesn't sound right (which rarely happens) then I'm either trying one of the dynamic EQ VSTs until it does, or I replace the samples/clips completely.

After we discussed analog tape simulations here and Sinewave hinted how ToneBoosters Reelbus fits the requirements in his opinion the best, I have to say, this thing is amazing. If you take a clear mix and run it thru Reelbus it fattens and glues everything together in a very welcome way. Even better is the usage for certain buses like drums, guitars or harsh synths. This way you can over use it in some way.

To make it short. Reelbus sticks everything down in the stereo field, adds a wet and warm sounding (sounds a bit dirty, i know :winker:) and doesn't suck (again dirty) a lot of cpu. And even better, it has just 4 samples delay time. I love it!
