I made the same exact post on an identical thread last year, maybe you read that and fell under my sweet influence?

Or maybe great minds naturally converge.

Perhaps a little bit of both...but seriously, I only tried out and liked to play with Fortin and that Cytomic pedal about three months ago. Also I use an old '92 Levinson Blade Strat. I guess that it's more a matter of great minds melding. You aren't by any chance Vulcan?

I like Neural because their IR's sound good right out of the box unlike every other plugin I've tried. Spent a little fortune on them while being drunk a few days ago, well at least I don't have to worry about tone for a while since even the presets just bangin.
Though I will experiment in the future with THU, Amplitube and Ownhammer IR's.

For Bass: Ampeg is free for a limited time, gotta check that one out too :)
BOD Pedal is what I usually run mine through, it's free.

Then you've definitely been skull fucked by my previous post.

BTW, that thing about Spcok being Vulcan is false.

Granted, Spock is only half Vulcan (which of course I know, watching it basically since the second season aired in 1968 (I had a bad stomach ache and went into my parents room where I saw Kirk hurt badly by a big white monster thing and then the hot black haired woman who healed him). I was more specifically inferring only a Vulcan (or half Vulcan in this case), one who had that blood flowing through his veins (think Pon Farr) and the training to mind meld could have gotten into my head, albeit remotely.

So, are you HALF Vulcan or any part thereof?

Thanks for the insight! May I ask if the Neural Plugins also use profiling? And if not, why do they sound so good though? Becaus they have good IRs?

@Valnar they "capture" artist rigs, like Quad Cortex, and create plugins with them.
    So YES they are profiles.

We know why they don't create a Quad Cortex plugin : to sell HARDWARE Quad Cortex, like Kemper

T-HU : more profiles to choose from
Whereas NDSP plugins are VERY limited (profiles AND effects)

Look here (every pack contain several rigs) :
    https://www.overloud.com/rig-libraries

Mooer is "pushing" with his FREE Mooer ge labs profiling software. Compatible with GE200/300 (NOT 150 !!!) hardware sims.
Mooer effects s*cks, but AnthonyClass preamps (combined with OwnHammer IRs) rules.

If you need live hardware with basic effects : GE 200/300
    More : Kemper
    Even more : Quad Cortex

Profiling is ALWAYS better than regular algos. Even the cheap Mooer Ge Labs/GE multis (amp dynamic wise)

Listen to this and smile to Kemper hipsters

We speak about a second hand less than 200 bucks device

    Yes Nembrini is very good.
BUT too much "fragmentation" (even more than Neural DSP) : each plugin do only ONE thing

BG Extasy alone is 137 bucks FULL price ...

For two Nembrini, you get FULL THU

So if I am not mistaken then the T-HU RIg player also includes the Cabinet IR which is not swappable right? Yeah I can see why Neural is dominating atm...

I would have to throw in my vote for THU but honestly I've been using my strymon Iridium pedal that just runs the amp impulse. and man that thing sounds great that it just sounds like an amp so you treat it like you just miced it up.

TH-U has Supercabinet with which you can load up to 3 IRs (more than Neural's 2)

Man, to be honest, I've never been a fan of Star Trek. My campy pseudo-philosophical sci fi guilty pleasure is Babylon 5.

Yeah but I want the Rig Player Amp simulation on it's own and add my own IR's, apparently Rig Player has the signal path for both included so you can't seperate them

Any of the Neural DSP sounds great to my ears. I like the new Rhino as well. And i will also always have a soft spot for S-Gear because it's so damn good.

Anything else i tried in the past, i rate below Neural and S-Gear.

Are you saying you are using your THU amps and Iridium for cabs? I have one but I never thought about using it for just amp or just cab simulation...I've always used them together but now I'm curious about what I may be missing ;). Going to get the iridium out tomorrow and check this out.

90% of guitar tone is the speaker/cab etc
Real amps can scoop up 45% of the guitar pick ups and players style including dynamics such as crescendo, sims cant, only a few where designed to behave like real heads and softube nailed this, the rest also but vary in frequency.

once you have a real head behavior, especially Marshall, your pedals, playing style need good cabinet irs and depending which the tone ends up with effects your own over unique tone..

    Best i heard where;
STL Howard Benson tones for modded marshalls,
    jens Bogren rythem,
    Amplitube Fender,
    Softube celestian speaker shaper,
    Positive grid celestian speaker collection

But not all plugins allow 3rd party irs or process correctly..

All tube amp "magic" sound is in the POWER amp section AND speaker interaction (feedback and more).
Add to that mic/cab capture dynamic "air".

Power tubes compress/distort in a specific way, very hard to emulate.
Interaction with speakers create electric feedback.
    Mic/cab add another layer.

You want the "magic" of mic/cab ?
Try OwnHammer Nebula cabs (on sister site)
Too bad they stopped selling them ...

Preamp section is the easiest to emulate.
Power amp is harder, cab/mic dynamic even more (apart Nebula OwnHammer, i NEVER got the dynamic "air" in the box).

In real world domain, a good power amp, good cab and mic is enough to plug anything in front.
Even AMT pedals can get you 99% close to the real thing, in a tube power amp/cab/mic chain.
