Thanks for all the replies and suggestions, looks like there are a couple others I should check out. Trillian seems to be the most popular for truest sound quality but has an acknowledged steep learning curve.
Can't say I disagree, as a guitar player (without a bass),there's something to be said for the real deal.

@NYCGRIFF Appreciate the sound samples. I like the sound of the Jaco middle & neck pickups, the slapped sounds too sharp for my taste, although I assume they're raw with no processing.

In addition I ran across this guitar to midi conversion VST that some may find interesting. It's still in beta and currently free for testing, but the video looks promising. Check it out: http://www.bituosity.com/migic

Will do, Slider. Thanks for the link. Of course, no VST can never take the place of an accomplished musician. However, depending on your skill as a musician, some folks can come pretty close to sounding pretty damn good (at least to an untrained ear). As I've mentioned before, I have little patience these days trying to round up "former" band members for sessions. Too much of a hassle. In the meantime, I just satisfy my creative urges through my home studio...

Yes, quite "raw". By the way, the software looks quite interesting. Going to check out some online demos...

Thank you Slider, interesting tool. With the possibility to use it with an expression pedal, to make "violoning", write automations or something like that, would be awesome.:)

I have a same question. I have a midi guitar too.
    1) But what is the best "modern" vst
for "Rock & Metal Guitar Bass" that can detect legato, slides, bend, other technics,... automaticaly.

    I have :
    DirectBass 1 - Pettinhouse.com
    Broomstick Bass

    2) Aslo i have not yet tested changing my guitar pitch. Is it better than vst or not? How to get best result.
These were vsts that people suggested in this thread:

    Trillian
    NI's Scarbee
    Prominy SR5 Rock Bass
    Ilya Efimov Bass guitars
    MPC bass f
    Ample ABP/J.
    Scarbee MM.
    Scarbee Rickenbacke
    Jaco Iconic Bass
Core Bass Cherry Slapped by Orange Tree
    Iconic Basses
    MarkBass plug in

I did used to use the hell out of some of the Scarbee stuff . . . I would open two different instances of a patch. One regular and one slapped and route them to different midi channels so I could draw in different slap bass fills on the same grid. However, ever since I got Trillian I haven't really bothered too much with the Scarbee stuff. Trillian makes it really easy to get different and incredibly natural sounding variations using velocity.
