    Hi!

Just as the title said: What is the loudest limiter/maximizer you know?

I've always used Fruity Limiter to make my mixes loud, but I want to try other limiters, just to see if I can push the LUFS level higher.

    So do you have suggestions?

    Thanks!
    PS: Sorry for bad english

Slate Digital's FG-X. Some people dislike it, but you just gotta mess with it until you make it work. It's iLok dependent, though, and that *does* piss off a lot of people here.

Why would you want to push it to the extreme and destroy the dynamics of your music?

Tried almost all 3rd party limiters available a little while ago and went for the Pro-L but recently made the switch. I'm convinced now
Btw: it's not only the limiter that makes your music loud(er), it's the whole process from start to finish .. but okay .. slamming a buss compressor before the limiter (and even add a 2nd limiter for the peaks) may help you 'crush' everything if that's what you want

To squeeze more, you need multiband (and FL one is very good)

As far as broadband limiter :
    Pro-L
    Elephant
I hate Slate FG-X : their famous transient processor ruin transients
    Freeware :
    Loudmax is VERY impressive
    http://loudmax.blogspot.fr/

The best limiters use adaptive/multiple stage gain reduction/detectors.

And to answer some ppl about WHY searching for the most impressive gain reduction : because it will be even better with less GR
Try to push Elephant, and you will know what i mean : it sounds gorgeous, even pushed to the max. Even if i never use it like that :bleh:

Why Waves L1 sucks at high GR ? Because it sucks at low GR, too:rofl:

Definitely, nowdays if you want to go insanely loud you can't do it without a proper clipping before limiting on all the summing busses. Naturally, any sane musician/engineer will tell you that you're going to distroy the sound (which is true) but for commercial genres it works great. If you pas the nowdays TOP40 through a goniometer they're all shaped like diamonds :)

When it comes to maximizing, software can never get close to hardware, because digital distorts soon as you go over +0.0. Hardware/ Analogue (English way of spelling it) on the other hand will go to +2 before distortion.

I have done several tests however, with regards to software maximizers/limiters etc. The one that ALWAYS wins is Sonnox Oxford set on 'Crunchy' for loudness, not necessarily the best though.

Best is dependent on type of music you are planning to master. Even then it can be trial and error.

I like to stack 10 limiters for maximum loudness. One way to know if your track is loud enough is if you hear a ringing sound for a few minutes after playing it, then you know it's ready for beatport :)

Why do you even need to go so loud? Spare your dynamics, makes different sections in your track have different impacts. I'd even compress separate parts of your song differently to get your drop louder than an intro, etc, and then of course have a master compressor/limiter to keep it all together. Obscenely high db's aren't necessary though. If you're playing a track and it's considerably quieter than a previously played song, then just turn your volume up honestly.
    However...
George Yohng's W1 Limiter is my go to for getting stuff loud. It's free too. Picked it up once I heard that deadmau5 used it way back in the day to make up for his live mixes not sounding as great as studio tracks.

Supposedly it's identical to the L1 by Waves, but I never bothered with Waves, so I wouldn't know.

lol all people above got it wrong...!!

just use izotope ozone 5 maximizer in irc III setting and lower the treshold..

also you get great meters with that plug so you can learn about dynamic range and stuff and stereo stuff

MMultibandLimiter...when in doubt i go for anything Melda...technically you could also use MspectralDynamics...but also try ELEPHANT, SLATE FG-X (I loves it I dont care what anyone says that thing frikin rules), or check out some limiters by STILLWELL or PSP VintageWarmer....but honestly MELDA PRODUCTIONS I think will do anything as good as anyone else does it....also why do people in here post just to criticize someone for wanting to know about stuff? The title was a question about limiters specifically what ones do what task best...why waste space and time of other people forcing your opinion down their throat? i dont get it...
