what is the difference between NY and parrallel compression

    Usually, for NY compression you use parallel compression on the drums and the bass together and emphasize their low and high end.

    So, on principle it's the same, the details are not.

    According to Bobby Owsinski the real NYC compression is parallel compressor followed by and eq boosting 100hz by 3db and 10khz by 3 db

    Yes. A little late to the party. NY compression is the added low shelf and top shelf boost on "regular" parallel compression.
