I have a Korg Kontrol 49 that was great for Ableton, but having now moved to Studio One I feel like my controller also needs an update to be able to control more things. Ideally I would like a device with decent faders to control mixer with a hand-on feel. I don't tend to really use pads much, but having a small bank would be good if possible. I also use a lot of soft synths like Omnisphere and Serum, so rotaries to control these would be good too. The Korg Kontrol 49 does have these, but it is ageing now so does not intergrate that well with the relatively new (compared to the controller) Studio One, unlike other DAWs and I *hate* mapping EVERYTHING myself with a passion as I have no patience for it!

Grateful for any recommendations. Price is pretty flexible, but the cheaper the better, but I won't rule out pricier controllers if i can get the used for a reasonable price.

    Cheers!

    Nektar is a good choice.

You might also want to consider the Advance keyboards (akai, Alesis and m-audio) which integrates very well with your Vsti's.

Specifically, the m-audio ctrl 49 has a lot of faders.

That Nektar Impact came with full integration for Studio One the day it was released. What pissed me off was I bought one of the Panorama keyboards a year before they even launched the cheap Impact series. There was talk about Studio One integration.. and to this day the Panorama has nothing but the same basic mapping template for Studio One. Can't use the motorized fader or shit with Studio One. They even added Panorama integration for Logic And Reaper at a later date, and just skipped Studio One and focused on getting shit done for their Impact series. So yeah.. their cheaper board has a broader range of daw integration. I'd say to go with the Panorama if it wasn't for them putting Studio One on the back burner.

Yeah, i noticed that. However, having just brought out a new range of Impact LX+ keyboards, I wouldn't be surprised if the Panorama upgrades come soon so they are probably holding off until then.

That M-Audio CTRL 49 looks sooooo nice!

  8. Presonus Faderport 8. The integration even goes so far as to coloring the buttons to match yer tracks.

I've been using Axiom Pro 49. It works great with hyperlink enabled. Numeric keypad for shortcuts, faders for console. knobs for plugins and pads for impact. Track, bank and mute/solo work as well as the ability to customize every single control
