    Hi guys,

I wonder what the vocal type is called. It is obvious that it is kinda ethnic vocal, but i still can't figure out the origin.

    The vocal starts at 2:19

    Thank you in advance

I think the word you're looking for is "Elegy". Folk song, often sung after a death or a painful, upsetting event. I guess The Gladiator soundtrack, Now, We are free is the most famous one about that.

Could be something Asian also. Maybe Thai? Have no idea what the language is though.

Sounds like Armenian to me listen to Isabel Bayrakdarian - Amen Hayr Surp, she's a fantastic opera singer from Montreal Canada
Armenian Medieval Spiritual Music is amazing and soulful

Could be anything there are a lot of effects on it. Mediterranean Greek, semetic & Levantine mourning songs it is the sound of the old Byzantines so you will find it in North African, Hungarian, Romanian, Moldovan,Turkic, etc... chants, and it also pops up in Scandi-Celtic keening and in the central Asiatic plains a lot.

It's a very primal sound it's kind of ubiquitous in the old world. The only difference are the scales as some of them are not tempered and include a lot of 1/4 and even 1/8 tone steps which can contribute a lot the character of a performance.

I wonder if it's sung in another language and/or also reversed? Just a thought. Nice find.
