I did this to save space on my drive as I have too many samples and loops I have used about 10 loops in a project. I have not noticed significant changes in the ram, at least I do not perceive it, and that I have little ram (8 gb) neither in the cpu. Honestly it's like I'm using .Wav files also before converting my files to flac. Ask the pros and cons in this forum, if you want you can search the answers I got to get a better idea. I hope it works for you

 

With"batch convert", of course I meant converting with slice information. They'd be useless without.
If I remember correctly, the slice info in REX files is stored unencrypted so there might be a way to write a batch conversion utility that reads slice info from Acid Wav or Apple Loops, loads each source file and saves as RX2 without slices, then adds them to the exported files later.

Just keeping the RX2 files seemed more straightforward though ;)
