I literally can't. It's not safe for work.

I always thought that was the purpose of a desktop. Filling it with icons.

The glass citizen. You don't have to spy on people or break into their homes to get your data. Many users publish their private files voluntarily. It is easy to evaluate this data or to create a personality profile. It can all be done with the computer, from anywhere on earth.

imagine somebody finds out, which are your other profiles: fb, twitter, youtube, discord, forums, etc and everywhere you post bits of informations. When you connect the dots you can easily form a full personal profile.

Totally agree with you. Also such small things like a screenshot of the desktop tell you a lot about the person. For example lives the person alone, is the person a collector, OCD? What other programs does this person use?

Try to keep personal information to a minimum.

Before you start thinking I'm taking the piss, I've got several ways to explain why this is the best way.

Nobody looks at their wallpaper anyway so there's no point and some of us who've used a Windows login on a Windows network knows that the less stuff on your Desktop the better. Maybe I'm superstitious but that at least given a network made login/logoff way slower.

Also, the desktop as an application launcher is just sketchy, even the start menu is faster / better (just Win+<a couple of letters of the app you want to launch>+Enter). Powertools Launch is even better, Alt+Space and type what you want. I use Powertools and Everything search (mapped to Alt+Space and Alt+Win+Space respectively) and I don't think there's faster way to get there, the desktop is just an hindrance.

Also Powertools has fine plugins like calculator, press Alt+Space, type in say "440 * (2 /5)" press enter and et voila, it's in your clipboard, ready to be pasted in to your DAW/plugin.
