Here's my desktop, a bit empty. I made the gradient wallpaper.

I have a dual monitor setup and John's Background Switcher to change the wallpaper every 10 minutes. And no, that doesn't affect the audio performance. desktop.jpg

Debian 9 Linux using MATE desktop, ladies and gentleman. Cleanest looking, easiest OS I've ever used. Installed in 10-20 minutes depending on the speed of your SSD/HDD/BRD/USB Stick and completely free to download and use. You can personalise the theme just the way you want it, each little thing you see. This desktop looks exactly the way I like it!

There is a RME HDSP mixer there in the upper left, quick start shortcuts for the most used apps, start menus for starting apps, and system control apps. Pay special attention to the most beautiful font rendering aside from MacOS that I've ever seen and the whole GUI is hardware accelerated and everything works as smooth as butter! Take that Microsoft [showing middle finger :)]!

Screenshot "app" works perfectly and simply just by pressing the "Print Screen" key, just like it should work. Also, mounting or unmounting disks and disk images is just one click away, either from desktop or the file browser. So handy! ;)

I spend a lot of time doing music in Windows 7, and it still always surprises me how ugly it looks, and how complicated to use it is [I do like XP kinda, though]. Any Windows, especially 10. I find it very confusing, and aside from music I also do IT! ;) Don't think I haven't tried all of them, all the way from Windows 95 to Windows 10. I said I know Windows like the palm of my hand, and I do, but it really is ugly and complicated OS, and depending on the version it's so hard to personalise the theme just the way you want it. I hate that you can't really change *all* the colours to your taste. :( I also really like MacOS, FreeBSD, and NetBSD... for those in the know, they will know why. :)

    Thanks!
I like to keep it clean, the rest of the shortcuts are in Start Menu.

I have another 27'' next to this one but I only turn it on while mixing so I can throw the mixer on there.

And I pretty much only use Start Menu in W10 in Parallels on both my macs for the same reason! lol.
    I like you!
I bet if you use it, your Kontakt Lib Tab and QL are both well organised and efficient! haha.
Oooohh and I bet your project naming...no don't tell me...hehe
I feel I can divine a lot from your initial screensaver! I want it now! lol.
I bet this thread will run and run...

Haha yup! I'm a neat freak. But it really is more convenient to have everything organized, even your workflow improves.

Also, my taskbar automatically hides itself... shhh

    Total agreement.
    With Kontakt, I described myself!
Project names and subsequent versions? After 30 years since hardware days, I still have to work on it! haha.
We have both come to the same conclusion in our creative lives, at least!* Or maybe you didn't see mine on page 1.

I've always stuck to a scheme when naming projects {ARTIST - PROJECT NAME/SONG - No. (of the version) - DATE} and keeping absolutely everything separate is a must. Also multiple external HDD's help a bunch.

But yeah, we think alike :hifive:

Just saw it, very clean indeed! :chilling:

This is a new computer. I started moving all of my stuff to it this morning, and I've only just installed REAPER and my VSTs. Currently this is what it looks like. I made the wallpaper. wall pp.png

Hmmm, looks good. I'm going to have to check that out and play around with it.
I have a couple of old laptops sitting around doing nothing.
