    Hi all,

    Just wondering,

I used to use Acid until when Reaper showed up, copied the best parts and developed from there. I've looked at the 'new' Magix Acid and to me it doesn't seem to be much different than it was 12 years ago. What I'm curious about is who still uses Acid and not Reaper at this point, and just what Magix thinks it's doing with these old programs.

Who would buy Acid and not Reaper after the year 2010?

I do wish Magix the best and I hope they look at Reaper one or two times, maybe download it and try it, and then make Acid better than Reaper. I mean Reaper is quickly becoming Vegas as well, with video editing and filters.

seen the latest update with stem-maker and the new midi playable chopper. I hope they keep working on it and improve it.

there are even people who prefer other DAW's than Reaper :)

Every DAW does a couple of things that no other DAW does. That is the case with Acid, especially with the NExt edition and its STEM MAKER. No other DAW has that feature. Therefore, as long as ACID offers something that the others do not people will continue to use it, maybe not as a main DAW but just for that one feature.

Acid was not improved a long time and this wont change with Magix taking over Sony Products.

The do the separating tracks from single audio is just what I'm interesting though, that is since MAGIX if I'm right, none when Sony time. I hope it will get better and will come to Studio One.

I use Acid Pro all the time. I 've used Acid since the beggining in '98. At first hooked midi sync'd on my sequencer, since it was only audio, no midi. If you use a lot of samples, loops etc., no other DAW comes close to its fast workflow in the studio. It is still missing some feats like eg. sidechaining. Or high res audio editing. But between Acid and Sound Forge which integrate perfectly, 90% of the things i do with Cubase 10 or Cakewalk, are possible with Acid Pro.
The new stemaker works similarly to Izotope RX's equivalent feature, i compared the two side by side, "out of the box" Acid's StemMaker produces a slightly better result but with RX you have parameters you can adjust, in Acid you don't. StemMaker is an Acid Pro NEXT feature but it is made by Zynaptiq.
    Cheers

I suppose the major difference these days is that there is 64 bit version. but love it as i do, muchly, i can't find a use for it that is not in nearly every other DAW. In my opinion Sony dropped the ball when they aquired Sonic Foundry, much to the chagrin of die-hard users, it was a lamentable thing. the only reason i even look at it now is because i was hoping that Magix would develope it, but that's not happening. Acid is dead.
    long live Acid.

Your Acid will probably become a Steinberg's product like SpectraLayers (sony/ magix/ steingerg) :D
And will be an alternative variant (or part or feature) of Cubase/Nuendo :D
    Cubacid Pro

How many do you want me to name. For the moment i will only name one, ask me for more if you like :):
-Realtime preview of acidized wav sync'd in tempo and pitched according to a selected root note. To my knowledge only Sonar/Cakewalk does this. The rest only match the tempo and even fewer sync it from the explorer window before the file is a part of the arrangement.
I wouldn't bet on this. Spectralayers is nothing close to Acid it includes no DAW algos/functionality whatsoever. But still, if implemented correctly, which imho technically is almost impossible, i would welcome a Cubacid lol. Acid x64 rewired to Cubase 10 is already an excellent experience from where i sit.
Acid has a small but fanatic community. Being a member of that community since '99, I 've been hearing this "Acid is dead" since 2004 lol. The truth is, what Sony didn't do with Acid, after the launch of Acid Pro 6 in 2004 'till the end of their ownership at about 2016, Magix did it in a year and a half since they acquired the ex-Sonic Foundry/Sony IPs and they have been updating and trying for a better, more modern Acid version. I have been watching them closely and their production team is 100 times more agile and eager to put Acid back in the map. Not that i care if my Acid is a fav DAW by the countless shooting stars coming and going.
Personally, the only thing i really really wanted from Acid is 64bit compatibility and i got my wish. So from me, kudos to Magix and i hope they bring more exciting changes and implement some of the other items in my wishlist.
    Cheers :)
PS: Are you aware of a guide in the Acid forum of how to use JBridge with 32bit AcidPro so plugs can work in 64bit while the DAW is 32bit? I wrote that sht lol.

Correct. But, it's licenced from a 3rd pty, and Izotope RX7 is NOT a DAW, and it does separation with MUCH BETTER RESULTS than ACID, in 2018.

Much better results ? Err, nope. It's just more flexible when it comes to spectral separation because it is after all a fully fledged Spectral Editor . And it costs the same money as Acid Pro Next :hahaha:
Now get RX7 instead and make some music lol. What, yeah, i know it doesn't do this, which is NO RESULTS whatsoever heheh.
Don't get me wrong please. I find APN price quite ridiculous too at 399, but RX7 being just an auxilliary tool and costing 399 is hillarious imo. Because however good it may be, it is no fuckin Melodyne, meaning Melodyne includes a one of a kind algo and is the culmination of real scientific research, RX is more or less a slightly better, Ozone-like version of Spectralayers.
