Ok I made this one for my son's first Halloween. So don't expect much from the lyrics but better than most silly kids songs. Also not so complicated production-wise, as the song does not call for it. It's just a simple little rock and roll type of tune I kinda wish Elvis was alive and could sing lol. With different lyrics of course. For some reason my little one can't stop listening to it, it's the first thing he wants in the mornings, like dad play the gotcha song, as soon as he wakes up since Halloween.

Very nice and funny! I like the whole song and video package. If I had kids I will definitely play this for them.

I think if you compress the drums more and run them through some vintage stuff, add more reverb but rolloff all of the tail, de-ess everything, add more 60khz, and shoot for -4LUFS you might have something great for the children.

Thanks for the recommendations! I didn't really shoot for a great mix, as children probably constitute the group of listeners with the least attention to the mix quality of a song - as long as it is downright unlistenable lol. Kids music must be the genre with the fastest diminishing returns to mixing.

You have a skill there, because it's difficult to write and record stuff for children. I had one bit of work when I had to write and record some music for a children's animation, and tbh, everything I knew went out the window.
It's a totally different ball game.

My 3 year old didn't even know what zombies or ghouls were, but now he's like dad I'm gonna be a zombie when I grow up. I'm like no, no, that's not.. I'll not let you be a zombie! And he's tearing up like, but daddy please please let me be a zombie, why not :'(

I'm almost on the verge of regretting writing this song because the only way to put him to sleep at night nowadays is through gory undead stories

Now that I read into the details of his "mix tips", it's obvious he is trolling those people. But I have known "producers" who would give a response similar to his, only in a totally serious manner

And thank you for praise on the mix. I only wanted to make it listenable. I've never worked in film but I work in commercial jingles for TV and radio.

That's a good idea but the syllable count does not match. Could have found something else that's related but I think my little one disagrees. He's obssessed with the word Gotcha nowadays Thank you for your response.
