Everything works if it's done right, nobody can guarantee that, I never thought dub step would make it big, but people dig it because there is plenty cheesy elements for masses, like this examples you left, it's hybrid for masses, the question is would Lady Gaga(or any other famous pop artist) make track like that and start that trend, I think it's just matter of time when someones producer go that road and then bunch of them go there too, people will follow, they listen what you give them.

Rita Ora already exported that kind of track (on with dj fresh and the other featuring Tinie tempah) to the US and it did well in charts, it's a matter of time before D&B hits the international waves.

Musical evolution. I feel like the people who liked distorted guitars in the 70's...or liked the minimoog in pop music in the 70's.

I'm glad I'm not wearing fur and walking on all four anymore.

It's not drum n bass to me (though I'm not a connoisseur), just fast paced dance music (it's missing the bass side , isn't it?). Whatever works if it's nicely done. The first track is very nice!

I really like Drum and Bass, but after an hour or two it becomes tiresome for me. Same with pretty much any other genre. Dubstep just sounds dumb to me, and I don't dig it at all. I prefer more interesting music, more melodic and musical, with lots of *different* sounds, mixed from different genres, and if possible a bit innovative. That I can listen to for a long time. Say Depeche Mode, Infected Mushroom, Amon Tobin, Underworld, Joy Division, Laibach, Front Line Assembly, Skinny Puppy, Nirvana, Sisters of Mercy, Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Decree, Test Department, Einsturzende Neubauten, The Prodigy, Future Sound Of London, Chemical Brothers, Orbital, Jean Michel Jarre, Yello, Bjork, etc. etc. I kinda tend to prefer melancholic, sometimes noisy stuff, but in all of them I'm trying to find a musical and artistic value, if there is some, and something that makes me feel something, something other than annoyance. :)

Unfortunately, i dislike D&B and some pop music.I think D&B and other electronic music(EDM and IDM,except pure electronic music) is suit for dance, cinematic, and film.Too many music this genre sounds familiar, "Inbreeding depression" will lose interest of the listener. Though I love Dubstep and Trance.

My opinion - a catchy melody although I think it's more for the female audience.

As for DnB - it's gone astray these days.
Give me one of the original Kings like (( LTJ Bukem )) *_^

Hey, I like that! Count me in.

So, if I like Seba, what else should I like?

Well, I've never thought of DnB as pop music. I quite liked the 2nd video (1st one is dead). Would it work in USA? I'm sure DnB would sound great in the urban parts. But really, why ask? You want to make something because it will be popular? Why not just go for it anyway? There's no way to be definite about what will be popular or not but one surely knows what one likes one's self......

If it sounds fabulous I'm sure it will find its audience. ;)

Love LTJ Bukem. I used to listen to Grooverider and Fabio on Kiss 100 in mid 90s - it sounded amazing after a good few years soaked in trance and 4 on the floor. Some real dark nasty, crazy-banging stuff. We had most of a houseparty from next door come over because "Man, that sounds fucking amazing! What is that?!"

Hard to believe it's like 20 years old.

BTW - what would people say was "The First Drum and Bass Tune"? [First I came across anything approaching DnB was what I'd have then have called "Jungle" in 93/4. DJ Krome and Mr Time - Ganja Man. Not quite my sort of thing, but surely on its way to DnB already. It must go back quite a bit further than this though?

i remember getting this mixtape back in 1997 of jazzy jungle and listened to it so much the tape broke lol

i always think of dnb as the father of dubstep, with traditional dub reggae being the mother
