The Duetti Report has found out what artists can currently earn with streaming services.
According to this report, payments have now at least leveled off to such an extent that things are no longer going downhill. But of course that doesn't mean that you can make a good living from it.

I've read that it is sometimes linked to advertising revenue, which means that if they make less money from advertising, what they pay out also decreases.

What I find is missing is the music industry history for people who were born after 1990. While Amazon seems the better in returns, 10,000 streams gets you $88. 10,000 plays on radio before Radio became more relegated to The Internet, would make closer to $8,800. But try telling this to anyone who did not witness it and live through it while they are telling you how great the music industry is now. Another hilarious thing is a young musician telling me how great he was paid with $150 for a gig. People were being paid that in 1980. Touring with a major act now pays less than it did 30 years ago.

In the 60s and 70s, an American with a job could buy a house and a car. Then the gold standard, i.e. the backing of the dollar with gold, was abolished because of the Vietnam War, which was very expensive.

Almost every country is just printing money and living beyond its means, the inflation is massive, they have to pay more and more interest on the money they borrow. Today, workers can no longer afford a house or a car, cars are leased and paid for with loans.

If you had 100 euros four years ago, 100 euros is now only worth 75 euros. So on average we have become 20% poorer today. For musicians, there are almost only cheap products from China, Japan, etc. because wages and labor costs are lower there.

The world is hopelessly in debt. The rich are getting richer and the poor poorer. The distribution of wealth, i.e. the gap, is getting wider and wider.

The amount of work in Germany, for example, is stagnating; many full-time jobs have become part-time jobs, mini-jobs, and every second tax euro is spent on social security.

AI and robotization and the migration of large companies abroad, such as the automobile industry, etc., due to high energy prices, tax burdens and excessive bureaucracy, are already leading to more unemployment. The costs of wars or war aid are on top of that.

Whenever the financial system comes to an end, war or poverty and unemployment usually follow. The EU has now approved dried insects for food. The CO2 tax is rising and rising, which means that food, fertilizer and fuel for cars are becoming more expensive.
