I remember jumping up and dancing when the second verse came in when I first heard it when I was 16 yo. Another cowbell rhythm driving song. Tape up the cowbell and that is where the magic happens, otherwise it is always too harsh, and as well you need to record it way off in the periphery with the right microphone for the job, one that doesn't have a bump in the high mids>highs and has a smooth and pleasing rolloff as you come outside the bounds of its polar pattern. Something like a Neumann . Placement is everything, and placement trumps eq every time.
