    Jesus bleibet meine Freude,
    Meines Herzens Trost und Saft,
    Jesus wehret allem Leide,
    Er ist meines Lebens Kraft,

    Meiner Augen Lust und Sonne,
    Meiner Seele Schatz und Wonne;
    Darum lass ich Jesum nicht
    Aus dem Herzen und Gesicht.

    The chorale "Jesus bleibet meine Freude" is a German Protestant hymn written by Martin Jahn in 1665.
    Both the first (1716) and second (1723) versions of Bach's cantata 'Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben, BWV 147' contain the chorale "Jesus bleibet meine Freude". In the first version, it is the closing chorale of the cantata. In the second version, it is the second closing chorale, and it is sung after the four recitatives.
