I've been using Altiverb and ReLab LX480 most of the time but both have issues working in Ableton 11 and Cubase 11. Very old versions..

I've been trying Lexicon PCM Bundle and I think the Hall is doing a pretty good job! I Also like 2C-B2. Eventide Blackhole is another one.

Not vibing with Valhalla, Arturia, izotope and a few others I've tested.

I'm looking especially for an orchestral space. Unfortunately we don't get Liquid Sonics and VerbSuite..

You might have missed the op's quotes around "get", because you certainly won't be "getting" any UAD plugins...

Lexicon PCM bundle is great and imo one of the best in-the-box reverbs, if you like the Lexicon thing maybe try NI's RC24/48 as well. Also, Relab's LX480 Essentialls you can't "get" but you can buy quite inexpensively which gives you the same sound as LX480 just without all the programmable parameters.

I've always had the feeling that whatever reverb I use, it's not exactly what I'm looking for, despite trying to tweak it in every possible way.
I come to the conclusion that the perfect sound does not exist and I have to adapt my mix ambitions to the least worst reverb possible

I'm not a great expert but I wonder: «Would it be possible to insert an Hardware Reverb in Logic (or even in other DAW)?
Perhaps this would be the solution to satisfy those who want a more particular 'sound'? :winker:

    Greetings to you recycle :shalom:

It has to be a regular old cabled loop and I/O utility.

It is an hard task to do? :dunno:

Maybe it might be worth it if it's to find the 'right sound'

  9. While not a necessarily expensive option, unless you want to spend several thousand on a Bricasti or Eventide unit, you will find that hardware reverbs are still digital reverbs and therefore easily replicated in software for a fraction of the cost without the need for routing out of the interface and printing back to your DAW. Which can really slow things down. My recommendation would be to trial all of the top rated plugins on your own material and make a choice from there. And judge the reverb in the mix. Not soloed. That path will take you to the Darkside, then all hope is lost.

at least with the I/O utility, you can measure round trip ping, etc; so with compensation, timing is not as much an issue. For ElMoreno, this video is a good overview, but it is very slow because you are realtime recording to add any effect/s this way (print loop):

Although I have sold all my hardware over the last years but I remember the sound of some old Lexicons with pleasure :speaker:

the whole cubase orchestral stuff is not an area I know well. Unless I have a sound playing by itself with a reverb, I will just generally use the Logic stock reverbs or Space Designer. But it's why I have not suggested any.

What if the question is just good reverbs which can be acquired at low/no cost for MacOS in VST/AU format? you have to listen to them yourself anyway.

I am fan of BREVERB 2, UVI Sparkverb and Logic's Space Designer.

On occasion if something requires a lot of fiddling and filtering to make things fit properly FF Pro-R might find a place in a mux or a mix.

If you don't like algorithmic reverbs, find impulses from and import them you can use the IR of a physical space.
