    Hi,

Everything is in the title :)
Ableton's Tuner is good enough on long notes but on complex musical phrases or short samples it doesn't work very well. Is there a more complete alternative in vst or Max For Live Plugins ?
if possible on the sister site :winker: Thank's in advance for your answers :mates:

Melda's MAnalyzer is my absolute favorite.

    Autotune, Melodyne. Possibly deCoda.

As a side note: I've found Ableton's Tuner to be the best for actually tuning a guitar. Never thought to use it otherwise.

I found Ableton's tuner works better than most 3rd party tuners, even for relatively short notes. GTune by GVST is very reliable too or just use a frequency analyzer with readout like the Melda one above.

A guitar tuner works pretty well, yano if googling "tuner vst" is just oh so hard and impossible to overcome

But the best one is by UVI, crack is only on the underground russian forums tho, you are too "green" for it

I can’t find any tuner from UVI apart from Micro Tuner that is included in Falcon. Is the one you are talking about?

Thank you all for your responses :like:. To be more precise, my goal is to be able to analyze a sample and possibly correct its pitch. For example, I am considering using, transforming it, the guitar riff in this song by a well-known rock band :winker: and incorporating it into one of my projects. So I need to know the notes that make it up and be sure the pitch is right.

So, according to you, what is the best software to do it ?

    Gtune is pretty good

Give SPAN a try, a spectrum analyzer gives much better indication of frequency than a tuner. Tuners are good for tuning instruments (guitar, bass, drums), if I were to choose a tuner I would go for something by TC Electronic. I have a Polytune on my desk, and I love it.

Your use case goes beyond a tuner

thats what i think too, most of the time i can trust my ears too.

I tuned a TR909 kickdrum and found out that it was already the key i wanted - something i noticed when i pitched it in ableton simpler.
So it even works on drums, which are rather short.

What do you mean with complex bits? ofc it wont work that great on chords, because it looks after the tone, which has the most highest peak in the frequency spectrum. It was meant to help tune a guitar for example or drums, sometimes pads, where one key indication can assist you to find the right patch for the pad-sample for example.

But i guess one can hear if a pad, lead - melodic sample fits into other stuff, dont need a device to tell me the key, one could just play around with the transpose feature in samplers or synths.
