If we really would think holistic we might get to the conclusion that there has never been a problem in the first place.

I totally cosign first comment, 2nd one made me rethink about it. But i guess it has some satirical undertone, right?
I meant it more in a utopic way, not dystopian:guru:

I think the problem & its solution lies in the human nature itself, to only blaim it on individuals is maybe too short-sighted.
Begin within yourself, then help others and everything will change to the better. You can cure hate only with love, not hate.
Edit: Not to say you wrong, every here n then i think exactly like you do about this subject. On good days i try to stay above this ish, on others i internally scream out loud about this global injustice. I‘m on your side, no doubt. Its just, sometimes i realize there‘s not even something like a side.

    I´m here now!
I have software for sure a million now. But have noticed that the more I download, the less I use. But the more I learn the more locked and blocked I have become. Zero inspiration. I used to love to start a project, pick up a few samples, put up a loose plan. Now I can barely begin to start because I know that I am already stuck before the first drop. Just keep on adjusting sound images and repeating and start over and over all the time. Total cross stop straight into the wall and I am so deeply depressed. I have lost what I want to do.. I know, wrong thread, but im ended up here and started to think when I did something I was satisfied with and that was before I known about AU*I*Z, before all stuff, before all tutorials, before all knowledge about anything really. In Audacity actually. Well, I hope I get back on track. But deep back in head I also consider that im worthless when it comes to producing music. To think something is really fun to do is not much help then. Enough crying now. *hugs*

A bit similar here, make a full stop adding new plugz, start projects without adding any mixery stuff at first, focus on mood , melody , percussion, and start vibing, or take a walk into nature & listen to some music, inspiration will come and u maybe will do the best tune u ever did, its just an evolutionary step i bet. Hugs back

Don't fear the plugins, sound sculpting can be as much an element as the musical compsition. I like the Bruce Lee approach when it comes to experimenting with new tools, use what works, throw away what doesn't, adapt to your own flow.

Too many? Probably too poorly organized. Asking the question if we have too many seems to hav a connotation that we do not need more cracked. But we do, too keep up with the times and learn the new stuff that comes out that really is better. If you write off new stuff before you tried it, how would you know if it is better than what you have already. Look at the quality of vst instruments now and 10 years ago. Do you only use 10 years old vsts? No, you don’t. So, the problem is not too many plugins in the sense that we can’t make good use of new and better plugins, the problem is the organization of the plugins. If you won’t try new stuff you won’t know if something better is out there. You don’t need to keep it if it not worth using, sure. But when something new and better do out come out that you can make good use of you throw away or tag the old that it surpasses with ”old crap but still good for x y z”. By all means throw away what you don’t need, but welcome new stuff.

I was thinking exactly the same the same, then I just discovered, on last Christmas, the third party devs like Soundrops, London Acoustics and Dibi

    back to basics with you
    allow for some fun sessions
comparing oneself is the root of the problem (most of the time)

    basic elements (are fun ;)

i tryy to clean house every 6 months lol. but lately been using more and more stock effect plugins (compressors, limiter, reverb, etc) to mix and master . i try telling myself (example) -- "Software designers built their DAW professionally so the vst plugins it comes with must be professional grade as well " ...

A good way to get rid of unused stuff is to start from scratch (=install a fresh system) from time to time.
It's probably not the most efficient but definitely a very effective way to clean up.

What helps is to ask myself "what does this really add to my music" before installing.

no limits demo but without recal

but you can always screenshot :disco:

    to teh topic on hand

a lot of you guys seem to want a one tool for all.
but i look at it like a carpenter

love me a api 560b on drum buss if a want heavy analog drumkit
    3 clicks + 2-3 clicks a-b bypass i´m done

    transients are too harsh
spl TD 2-5 clicks a-b done
    need finer adjustment
flux bitter sweet doen (works on master too)
experimenting with transients meaning big steps ++more or --less
    oxford transmod

one can do all the jobs with one of those. but why waste time after i "wasted time" learning
what strength and weaknesses there are in each

    same with eq
    build in eq for most
    need clean "air"
flux epure (also good for bass work)
    need real air (mastering)
    ddmf, ssl, or fab

for buss highpass, lowpass love the roll-of off
waves q10 (carefull not to overdrive too extreme (didn't test 64bit headroom yet)

most have custom presets. don't want to dial it in all the time. just fine adjust!

some things have a certain sound like the old abbey road plugs or the even older tc stuff
love that stuff, pain in the ass to install(make work) sometimes
and if something comes along that does something better.
    DIE THE OLD MUST DIEEEEEE

Frankly, I really don't care about new plugins/softsynths/libraries.
    I'm perfectly fine with the +/- 20 I'm using.
Just waiting so desperately for their latest updates (Soundtoys, Slate, Spitfire...).
